The small mason bee house that sits on a south-facing ledge now harbors a couple dozen of mason bee larvae, which have been exploding with growth for the past couple of weeks. I still struggle so much with identifying insects in my garden. There are so many, and it's hard to catch some of the ones doing damage. Something has been laying eggs on the underside of my beet leaves. They look like moth eggs of some kind. I am not happy!
Anyway, keep talking about insects in your garden! I'm sure you'll help point me in the right direction just from reading about your pest management. :)

I don't recognize all the bugs out there yet, either! Someone should start a "what's that bug?" comm.
Count yourself incredibly lucky that you don't have leafminers!

I'd been worred about them, because last year the bee house was more or less abandoned. It was so gratifying to see all the babies this year.
