1. What's your most vivid and emotional memory related to food (consuming, preparing, anything)? I really don't know. I guess it would be thanksgiving dinners at my parents house. I recall being very excited about all of my brothers and sisters coming home from college and having people to play games with...that's the first thing that comes to mind, i am sure if i really search i could come up with a few things...oh, i remember the first time my friend had baked homemade bread and made a pot of vegetable soup...that was a pretty amazing experience. my mother wasn't much of a cook, i didn't eat a lot of real hearty homecooked meals growing up

excellent. thanks for the interesting read and the heads up to check out iris chang and linda christenson. i've heard of chang, but haven't read her work. you oughta post those answers on yer page and interview others.
Dang, girlfriend, I'm gonna get really up and mad if you don't write more often cuz you always give me stuff to think about and put things in such an interesting, poetic way and inspire me to be more thoughtful about what matters in life. I am so sorry you have a friend with a horrible tumor like that, I had no idea. I especially like your definition of a friend. I would never have thought to put it that way, but it's right on. I was 35 before I figured out where my home was, so don't feel bad! xo Betsy
