these are really difficult questions banjo89 May 11 2005, 09:02:22 UTC

1. What's your most vivid and emotional memory related to food (consuming, preparing, anything)? I really don't know. I guess it would be thanksgiving dinners at my parents house. I recall being very excited about all of my brothers and sisters coming home from college and having people to play games with...that's the first thing that comes to mind, i am sure if i really search i could come up with a few things...oh, i remember the first time my friend had baked homemade bread and made a pot of vegetable soup...that was a pretty amazing experience. my mother wasn't much of a cook, i didn't eat a lot of real hearty homecooked meals growing up.

2. What do you do well? I can kind of play guitar and mandolin. I am not a very good songwriter, but I am ok at accompanying other people.

3. What do you think you would have done if you were 18 and drafted during the Vietnam War?
I would have burned my draft card, tried to go to canada...deserted.

4. Who do you admire and why? I admire many people...i'll try to narrow this down. I admire this woman Linda Christenson...she wrote a book called 'Reading, Writing and Rising Up, teaching social justice in writing classes'...she's a high school english teacher in portland oregon. I admire that she has found a calling and has been able to do amazing things with it. I admire this woman, Iris Chang, who I have just recently learned about...she wrote a book called the rape of nanking, again, she was called to do this...sadly, she took her own life at the age of 36 this past november...i have become very interested in her story...she is sort of a tragic hero to me. I admire the band the flaming lips...i guess for providing me with so many wonderful memories and melodies so consistently for so long. i admire my father for defeating cancer and alcoholism. i could go on and on...i admire my friend josh for always seeming to have his act together...ok, that's enough for now

5. What's one thing (other than life-essentials) that you feel you must have or do to make for a good day...some time alone with my thoughts...and in an ideal world, a regular commitment to doing yoga...or some sort of stretching. and a hot cup of coffee.
