Bright blue eyes cracked open as Zack Fair began to awaken. Something didn't feel right. At that moment, however, it didn't matter. Zack was sleepy and he was tempted just to go back to sleep. But his subconscious didn't agree with him apparently; he only became more aware of his surroundings.
This most certainly wasn't his bed. Beds didn't rock back and forth slightly. And this was definitely not his apartment. His room was usually quiet, with nothing to hear but himself and the occasional sound from a loud neighbor. But it sounded like there was creaking wood all around him, and maybe even wind and water.
Finally, Zack opened his eyes fully and realised that it wasn't just his groggy state of mind messing with him. He rubbed his eyes and sat up only to realize that he had been sleeping in a hammock. Well, this was plain weird. Next to his feet was a set of clothing that wasn't his, and his buster sword. At least he still had that. . . it was almost like a comfort item, in some ways.
He stood and stretched, yawning. He wondered what time it was, but without a clock he couldn't tell. Reaching for the folded clothing, he found his cellphone sitting on top of them. Well, that was handy. 10 AM said the clock on the cellphone. Zack snorted at himself for oversleeping, but he'd long since stopped caring about what time his body decided to wake up.
Observing the clothing, a black eyebrow cocked at the old, worn piratey style. Navy blue britches, an overlarge baggy cotton shirt of an off-white colour and a pair of rather large boots. After he had changed into them, Zack decided that he was actually quite good looking in them. To finish off the look a ratty, faded teal cloth was tied around his forehead. It looked ridiculous. . . and it was awesome.
Today was going to be a good day, Zack decided and he cheerfully climbed up to the main deck. The sun was bright in the sky, the normal cave walls of Circadia vanished. Zack couldn't even remember the last time he'd seen the sun, and its warmth put him in an exceedingly good mood. Feeling the wind in his hair was something he'd long since forgotten. Walking over to the rail, he smiled as he leaned out and looked across the endless sea.
It was such a contrast to the normal cold and dark cave of the city. And it was just so refreshing.
