And that leads me to another point! Why do Americans lack the logical thought that would allow them to see through the scare ads? HONESTLY, how is Fox News even in business still? Who actually believes that the Obamas' "fist-bump" was a terrorist sign? Really? Who is that stupid?
Heh, nabbed the icon off someone else last night. Had me snorting at work like a loon for a good two minutes.
My parents think that too! *headdesk* And the preaching, oh god, the preaching. Do yours preach? Political conversations with my parents make my ears bleed.
Lol, no, mine don't preach. I make their ears bleed, actually, and then my mom insists that I just not talk about politics with her because we'll never agree on anything, and I'm like, "BUT I'M TRYING TO KILL THE STUPID."
And then it all goes to hell.
I talk to my dad about it a lot less, because that usually degrades into a conversation about the validity of the theory of carbon dating. No, seriously, my dad thinks it's "just a theory." And therefore he can keep believing the world is 6000 years old.
I cringe at this time of the political campaign because of all the stupid political commercials which basically just point fingers at each other for things that are rarely of importance.
As for why are we building in places that need levees...because America is hellbent on industrializing every acre of this country, whether it means filling in swamps or readjusting river depth/structure. God forbid we leave areas alone. Sorry, I'm bitter over all the talk about pumping oil in nature preserves.
And driver's insurance is required...why not flood insurance for even those who live in the middle of Death Valley?
I particularly hate it this time around because it seems to me that Barack Obama does this a lot less than all the others that have been involved in this race, and yet the media keeps dragging this shit up and giving it credibility. *shakes head*
*snort* Yeah, I'm so sick of hearing opening up those sites to drilling talked about like it's actually a valid solution. There aren't two sides to the issue. On the one side is drilling for the sake of the oil companies making more money later on, with no benefit for the consumers while destroying the environment. On the other side...yeah, not destroying the planet more than we have.
You know, the government should do auto insurance, too. Because the government is stingy, and a lot fewer people would be actually allowed to drive, which would make the roads safer, increase public transportation, and reduce carbon emissions.
Sadly, I live in OH where car insurance is required and it just means more people who are illegally driving without insurance. You would think those people would drive better in their attempt to be inconspicuous, but you'd be surprised. They might as well have neon flashing signs on their car stating they have no insurance.
If you run for president, I'll vote for you no matter what ticket your on. Save the environment, wee!
I'm sort of waiting for McCain to throw out an ad that states Obama is in league with terrorists...and sadly, people will believe it. I'm surprised no one has thrown him in league with the KKK and blamed him for singlehandedly raising oil prices.
Well, that's just dumb. Ugh. When will they get that privatizing things like that never works? It's completely un-enforceable.
Lol, can you imagine me running for president? I'd make Bill O'Reilly's head explode.
Oh, I'm counting on it. That's been their attack all along, because John McCain is for some reason considering strong on national security. I don't get it - nothing about John McCain makes me feel more secure. I feel more worried that he'll piss someone off and get us into another war.
*snort* Obama in league with the KKK or John McCain?
I completely missed the pregnant teens thing. I googled it and I swear, my jaw hit the floor. Now, I know teenagers do stupid things - hell, I'm only 22 and I *still* do stupid things - but a pregnancy pact? At 16? Seriously? There are no words. But how in the hell did they figure out how to *have* sex if they are stupid enough to think that a pregnancy pact is a good idea?
Unfortunately, preschoolers know how to put the correctly shape block in the hole.
Like I said, they needed someone to teach them that babies...are not fun. And that condoms are their friend.
*snort* And then there was this guy on AC 360 ranting and raving about how abstinence is the only way and someone needed to teach these girls that sexual behavior was not appropriate like that heathen school had been teaching, and I'm like - dude, these girls wanted to have a little baby-raising club. Do you think telling them to wait to have sex until marriage would have helped?
