Lost is my favorite show. I mean, it's the first show I watched from the beginning to the end and was locked in on.
I don't really know... I just went along for the ride most of the time. I think the Michael/Walt episodes were always pretty dull. I love so much about the show though.
Oooh Bates Motel! I wasn't sure I would like it, because I love Psycho so much, but it's really good!
Yeah, Y. was talking about that last night, about how most of the score and sound effects from the first season were used with airplane sounds. Played with of course, tempo, pitch, stretched, etc so it's not obvious but most of that first seasons score and music or auditory effects were made by taken a few hundred different sounds parts of a plane made then going into a studio and synthesizing it. That's a very Lynchian idea, but even J.J. Abrams talks about the importance of "Twin Peaks" on TV and without it, there would be no X-files, no Supernatural, no interesting, sci-fi, crazy, weird scenes and sounds, is this real or not, 'what was that' TV. It's every where now but I think the firsts were The Twilight Zone, Doctor Who, and The Prisoner in the 60s but in the late 80s/early 90s, without "Twin Peaks" turning up the 'weirdness heat', there wouldn't be half the interesting /mysterious/spooky/watercooler Telly that there has been in the last two decade, including 'Lost'. I am not a fan of contemporary television usually, but Lost,

LOST holds a special place in my heart. It's just... magic. I can't think of any other way to describe it. I felt like I really went on a journey with it. I'm thankful for every episode, eve the bad ones.
My favorite thing about the show is probably the music. Michael Giachino's score is flawless. I cried every other episode because of his music. It doesn't get much better than this...
A special LOST story? The series finale aired the same day as my brother's high school graduation. I missed the re-cap before hand and almost missed the beginning of the finale because of it. Two years later my other brother graduated. The valedictorian, in his speech, quoted the series finale of LOST. It was a very strange full circle moment that choked me up. :)
My favorite character is still Ben, lol. Other than him... Shannon and Boone. Oh, and Desmond. :')
And I'm still hoping that somehow the smoke monster ate Kate. :P

By 'Plane score', I meant how in the first season all those sound effects and parts of the score were all made from noises a plane made.
Also, Y. just reminded me that my triad was Sayid, Richard Alpert, and Daniel Faraday. And he was right....so I guess I crushed on Desmond in private...until now. =)
I became slightly obsessed with Lost for the first few series' and then it disappeared off terrestrial telly, the UK broadcasting rights bought up by Sky so I had to miss a few series. :-( Only finally getting to then see the final series, so that was interesting to try to catch up on! :-) I remember they did a single programme "catch-up" which was totally bonkers, running through all that had happened over the entire run so far! Felt slightly let down by the ending though, as I kind of guessed that's what would happen so conversely expected that they wouldn't be quite so predictable.
As for Sayid ...................... mmmm! I did have a little crush on him! I recently saw him filming a scene for the Diana film, right at the bus stop I was waiting at. :-) Hoping that there isn't now a scene in the film where some goth in the background is discretely trying to take a photo of him on their phone. :-)
Lil late to the party - Lost is special to me because it started right after I had moved to CA. Was pretty much all alone, and the only real comfort I had was tv and movies. I wanted to watch it for Dominic Monaghan (fell in love with him watching the LOTR BTS footage), but then everything else about the show was fascinating. The extra websites, the fan meta - it was probably the first fandom I had invested so much extra time (aside from Harry Potter). It was a true water cooler show for me - I'd chat with coworkers who also watched, and we'd speculate on where things were going.
However, I did NOT like the final episode. Revealing that the sideways moments were in fact from after death (which I don't count as an alternate reality) really just annoyed me and took a lot of the magic out of the previous mysteries.
But there were so many beautiful moments on the show. Charlie's list leading to his death is one of the saddest and sweetest things I've ever seen on TV.
