the weirdest evaporators show ever?

As a Vancouverite, I've been to many an Evaporators show--so I can safely say that last night's "Doot Doo La Doot Doo...Doot Doot!" DVD Release party was at least the weirdest I'd ever been to. And I was at the one that happened just after Nardwuar was hospitalized (the band + people filling in on the mike), so I know what I'm talking about here. ( Read more... )

I am pround to count Nardwuar as both a hero and a friend. He is a genius and needs to be recognised far more than he is. One of the greatest living Canadians, no doubt.

I was off to the right, about halfway down the auditorium. Aisle seat.

And I am also proud to count merek as a hero, lj friend, and last.fm friend as well. Shame we never met in person. Ah well.

I came to the Nardwuar Phenomenon relatively recently, but he's personally filled me in on so much of the gaps for me that I feel like I've been around since the first shows.

For $20 US (or cheaper if you look around) or $15 Canadian, it's a good show; I stand by my assertion that the commentary track on Nard Wars I and the video of Thee Goblins playing on the patio are more than worth the price of admission; everything else is bonus.
