It does, lol. And I actually got two more eggs yesterday (another from Pumpkin and then one from Petunia too!) and decided to make a cake. All three eggs were double yolks! O_o It was awesome... I have pictures!
I didn't realize they made so much noise when they laid their eggs, lol! Maybe it's only because they're new at it, but wow! I mean, it's okay... we don't have any neighbors or anything that would care about noise, but the poor things acted like they were in pain! D: I'm sure it'll get better for them in that respect. :)
I loved getting eggs from my chickens. :D We'd get pretty much one a day from each. Sometimes they'd miss a day or two, but I loved them. The white chickens I had laid kind of blue eggs.
Oooo... it sounds like you might have had an Easter Egg chicken! (They have a long name that starts with an A but I can't never spell it right, lol) I have some Easter Eggers too... but they're younger so they may not lay until next spring. I'll have so many egg colors when they all start! I have white egg layers, light brown egg layers, dark cocoa-brown egg layers, blue/green egg layers, and ones that lay brown eggs with a rose tint than can look pinkish. :D
I actually have no clue what kind they were. My mother wanted ducks for her job or something, so I went to the hardware store and they had no ducks, but they had chickens and they were cute and like ... .50 cents. So I just bought a few and came home.
Congratulations! So now, I think I know what is meant when someone describes themselves as clucky... they're about to lay eggs. LOL.
Was it soft? I've noticed with our tortoises, the eggs when they first lay them are not as hard as the types you buy at the store, still warm, and kind of soft. The shell obviously hardens, but I was curious if it's that way for chickens as well... last time I set foot in a chicken coop, I was 8, so I really don't remember what the eggs were like then.
It was an honest-to-goodness CLUCK like the stereotype, lol. You know... the buck-buck-buck BEGOCK sound! :D
No the egg was actually quite hard. And I got two more eggs yesterday... one from Pumpkin and then Petunia laid one too (we know it was Petunia because we were in the coop at the time hanging up their new oyster shell feeder.) Petunia's egg was cracked (probably because she was in a hurry to get done... Brian was not subtle with the drill, lol) and I decided to make a cake to go ahead and use it right away and since I had three eggs.
