Varying levels of disappointment

I liked this week's 24 better than most recent episodes. However, every time I watch House I ask myself - why are you watching this show again? The answer is always the same: that damn Hugh Laurie. :-)

Actually, I could be wrong on this, but I do believe all the Ducklings are full-fledged doctors, not interns. But I do agree with you that there should be technicians around.

All the more reason they shouldn't be doing their own lab tests. :-)

That's why none of the patients on House ever has to worry about insurance. The hospital keeps costs down by not hiring any techs or nurses or office staff.

Or more than five doctors, apparently. Except for that one surgeon who can apparently perform everything from neurosurgery to obstetrics. :-)

Heh, that's why I don't regularly watch House. It's very entertaining, but it bears as much resemblance to an actual hospital (and I've worked in them for 13 years!) as Buffy bore to a real-world high school!

The lack of nurses and techs (lab, CT, etc) is one of the things that drive me nuts, but the real annoyance is the way they always discover the diagnosis. Talking to co-workers on med-surg floors and in medical ICU there are mysterious illness on a regular basis (I suspect the public would be horrified if they knew how often!), and often we never find out what the problem is. Eventually most people recover, but I notice that part of the story is rarely featured on House!

It's mystifying - have the writers never watched Grey's Anatomy? ;-)

Actually I love watching Hugh Laurie, but House-I think everytime I see the show that I'd pretty much rather die than have him as my doctor. I mean by the time I'd recovered I'd be so traumatized by the treatment, I'd spend the rest of my life twitching and whimpering.. Other than that and the points you've all raised and the fact that I'd be bankrupt as well, I really like the show-Damn you Hugh Laurie.

Yup, it's all Hugh's fault. :-)

You know, it's interesting, because I thought Cuddy (while clearly maternity-crazed,yes) last ep was actually behaving in a very House-ian way; he may blather about Occam's Razor, but the writing usually shows that he first and foremost goes for Save the Patient, and that's what she was doing.

But then I love and enjoy the show without asking much of it, if that makes sense. [grin]

Hugs hugs! May you have less disappointment!

Well, she was trying to save the baby - wasn't the mother the patient?

But I'm glad you enjoy! I don't ask much of it anymore either, but it still makes me shake my head every time I see the ducklings perform a CT scan. :-)

::hugs::
