Michele Pfeiffer's voice wasn't terrific, but I thought she captured the character real well.

I agree with the cute guy above. While she's no songstress, but I think she did a really good job of a fading beauty, and representative of the establishment.

I went to this movie only because sunflower1969 asked me to. I've never seen any John Travolta movie in the theater, and was perfectly okay with that. I was pleasantly surprised.

Perhaps the formula that works is if you put one creepy person in the clothing of the other gender, and then you marry said person to another creepster. Apparently, this negates the creepy and makes them cute?

I totally agree... her acting was spot-on, but the singing was just way too weak for my tastes.

He wasn't AWFUL in my opinion... but I MUCH preferred Harvey Fierstein.

I didn't find Michelle Pfeiffer's vocals mediocre at all. They were mostly just servicable, yes, but I thought she managed to infuse her music with the proper expression, and that is the harder task, always, when singing. :)

Other than that, I agree with your assessment. It WAS fun. :)

I'm glad to hear your review on this. I've been seeing mixed reports. I wasn't planning on seeing "Hairspray", but now I think I will ( ... )
