i heard rumors of this from a mutual friend. he also said that UC has dropped their plans to persue partner (aka same-sex spousal) benefits because of the budget crisis. and there was mention of switching from Quarters (the UC invention) to semesters.

Well the DP benefits are on hold because of the Miami lawsuit at the moment, but the budget crisis is certainly a good reason to continue holding off.
