For new purees, you might want to start out by mixing them with more familiar purees until he gets used to them. (Just an idea, and a way to get more variety into his diet.)
We often had to mix Peter's veggies in with his fruits, a couple spoonfuls at a time gradually until he was eating just the veggie. Sometimes we had to do this at every meal. Keep trying - it can take up to (or at least) 10 times for a baby to accept something new and even more for him to actually like it much. ;} Such is the price we pay for trying not to have especially picky eaters ;)
Yeah, I would really like for Corwin not to have my food hangups. I feel like such an anomaly...I have such issues with food, but they don't correspond with any eating disorder I've ever heard of, nor are they health/allergy related. I'm just picky. And it's socially disabling in certain situations.
I AM getting less picky with time, but it's a SLOW, SLOW process. I eat mushrooms now!
With anything he's not crazy about; I'd suggest not actually mixing them, but putting the new puree on the back of the spoon and the one he likes on the front. That way he'll not reject the new taste because he's tasting something old, but still getting something new. It worked well for me with both kids and believe me these two have different habits.
He's definitely got the upper body strength and coordination for it. He was standing a good amount of the time I had him on my lap Sunday, I just had to brace his knees for him.
