So. Once upon a time you could do all kinds of whacky custom shit to your LJ. Like, I don't know, change your background and header and stuff. Where is the link for those options? http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml is failing to give me what I want. And I ( Read more... )

I recently redid my LJ layout, and it was definitely harder to find the customization options than it was the last time I made a layout (which was in 2007).
Your best bet is probably to create a custom theme layer, based on the CSS from an existing one. Once you have that, you can swap out the default header/footer/whatever images with your own, or mess with theme colors in there. It takes a little trial and error to make sure you're tweaking the right details, but customization by CSS allows for much more fine tuning than the old LJ customize page did.

I might just have to do that. I'm such a snob about using my own layouts. But I know very little about CSS. I guess I've got to learn, hmm?

Speaking of designs, does the newest ATC swap theme meet with your approval? You DID issue the challenge, after all...

Your LJ looks very nice and sophisticated. It's inspired me to re-work mine! Soon.

I don't mind this layout, but I really want to do a custom one. I don't suppose you know CSS stuff?
