I am ALWAYS recommending this artist:

Kate Miller-Heidke. She's a trained soprano opera singer-songwriter, who does pop songs instead of classical stuff. She's got lovely simple clear beautiful songs (The Last Day on Earth, Space They Cannot Touch), she's got quirky odd sounding stuff (Words, Supergirl), she's got straight-out pop dance stuff (Can't Shake It).

BUT she's also got balls-out hilarious songs (Are you Fucking Kidding Me? (it's a song about Facebook), Gaydar, Australian Idol) AND she does incredibly creative and fantastic cover songs (Toxic, Psycho Killer, Stayin' Alive) which often turn into a mash-up of a bunch of songs. She. Is. Brilliant.

Maybe available through iTunes US, definitely viewable on youtube, ask me nicely and I might share some of my collection :)

That pretty much exactly how I see Kate M-H. So pretty and so funny!

Her facial expressions are awesome... there's no way in hell she takes herself completely seriously. Not when she sings 'Psycho Killer' in a serious operatic tone, but allows her vowels to flatten out and broaden on the line "I hate people when they're not polite", finishes off a 'fa-fa-fa-fa' trill with the word 'fart' and then goes into a Mozart aria before segueing into 'Stairway to Heaven'.

I was hoping I'd see you round these parts on this entry. I knew you'd GET it, completely, about micro lab. And you can probably appreciate just how insane my professor is...she's the best. I luff her.

Speaking of work, how are things going for you these days? How're you feeling? Boyfriend? Woozles?

I will go find all of these. Your recommendations are usually quite good. Speaking of which, I don't suppose you have some Depeche Mode mp3s floating around you want to send my way. I need mooore. I fell in love with Blasphemous Rumors and Shake the Disease recently.

I'm sorry to hear about the panic attack. :( But, as you said, you don't like to give up. That is absolutely wonderful to hear. And you made it through, huzzah!

Music recommendations:

stephaniesĭd. They're an Asheville band that I've really grown to love. They're not really rock, per se. They're themselves, with all sorts of jazzy instruments. The singer has an amazingly versatile voice, sounding sometimes like Macy Gray.

I don't listen to them as much as I should, but I also found SHEL, which features beautiful violins and other instruments and wonderful female vocalists.

I also love me some Ian Brown, though he is more rock than the other two (in my humble opinion). However, his latest album features a lot of strings instruments and it's absolutely beautiful.

Lastly, Winterpills. God, beautiful stuff. Beautiful harmonizing of the two vocalists, and it's really nice and soothing and calm.

Thank you, darling. I shall go and examine these recommendations. I love beautiful music. What have you been listening to lately?

Also, have you sorted out your CW woes?

Lately, I've been stuck on stephaniesid. And bad 90s music. Strange combination, I know.

And yeah, kinda. I mean, I just have to suck it up. I don't really get a choice in the matter.

Sigur Ros, maybe? I'm fond of Hoppipola and Glosoli

I have heard of Sigur Ros, but have never actually listened to them.
