[Soft/Eng Sub] Usokon (2023) [12/12] - English soft subs Complete
Jul 12, 2023 15:12
So... I don't know what it is, but there's a moment in the year when I think that I feel like trying to go and suffering through some subbing, and that time has come, for 2023, finally hahaha
Okay, I'm kidding, I have no idea if someone else is doing it, I just quit trying to track all the subbers spread all over haha, and I'm lazy, so, this is what happened. I totally forgot what I had read about the plot of this dorama, and went watching it. I was surprised by the length, I like short doramas. And I didn't hate the female protagonist, that's a lot, and then by the end, I got goofy Fuma. There are some people who like Fuma because of his body I guess, but I like his goofy side, I like he is so upsetting and likes making fun of people he likes, it's like the real Fuma!
Regardless, I'm not sure, if I'm finishing this, and I'm not even sure if I'll get the time, I'm on winter's break this week, so, now it looks good! XD But here it is, the first episode~
[Episode 1 Notes]Notes: - Don't forget to use the fonts, it's the same with Shinaiboku, except for the titles I believe. I didn't want to fall into the spiral that it is for me to find the right font. - About a first-class architect, I explain it in a little note, but I've seen it before in Nino-san's game when they were guessing who earns more lol. I tried to explain her answer. - About the piece of jewelry he buys, I think it's connected to her name, Yae it's written as 八重 and the first kanji is 8. I know some people are tired of this plot of the cold male protagonist, and the super nice female protagonist, but in this case, I felt her, like I can see why she did what she did, she just needs to think a little more about her own well being, I guess. It's too selfless. And I'm okay with the cold male protagonist as long as he's goofy and Fuma LOL. I guess I like him better in comedies. We'll see how it goes, I just thought how bad it could get with 20 min episodes each?!
[Notes EP 2]No time for write notes, I'll do it later, I'm going on a trip, and I should be already asleep, see you~ Notes: Okay, I'm back and willing to write the notes I had for episode 2, lol, - First of all, I think I haven't mentioned this before, but I'm bound to make mistakes and I want to say "sorry!" about them at some point, lol, well, on episode 1, I don't think it's a mistake, well, the thing is, the word Takkun uses to call Yae, is the infamous baka, of course, I know kaba is hippo, but to me, he was just mocking her, by saying it inverting the syllables, maybe it's because I have too many siblings and we used to do this the whole time LOL, but it sounded like that to me, that's just a little clarification I wanted to mention, about episode 1. - About the songs Takumi sings at karaoke: * Kaijuu no Hanauta / A Monster’s Flower Song, I got the translation from here: https://kimchi-noodles.tumblr.com/post/620701900061523968/lyrics-vaundy-strobo-track-4-%E6%80%AA%E7%8D%A3%E3%81%AE%E8%8A%B1%E5%94%84-kaijuu. * Miyuki Nakajima - Between the Sky and You (1994), I got the translation from here: http://classicjapanesesongs.blogspot.com/2011/06/between-sky-and-you.html. - And I wanted to mention the meaning of Yae's name: Yae (八重 or やえ), the Japanese word for "doubled" or "multi-layered," often in reference to flowers. I knew the bracelet had something to do with her name, and I found it so beautiful~ I'm wishing Takkun can give it to Yae soon, maybe? I'm really out of ideas of how this will continue and I like that. Also, I don't want to state the obvious, maybe I did it on the subs, I'm sorry! But I wanted to point out that Takumi used the bottle to calculate the size of the ring for her! He's so nerdy for that and I loved it!! Also, he got the address from that piece of paper in the back, because he's such a stalker!! And what was he thinking those are wedding rings! not even a proposal ring? What do you call them? LOL, I'm loving his character, I can't with him being so silly around Yae-chan. I think that's it from the notes, I really liked this episode~ I hate that I can't control the tags here, so I can't put links it seems inside a spoiler tag...I hate that!
[Notes on EP 3]Notes for Episode 3: - When Yae mentions the perfect coordination, she mentions: * Saize: Saizeriya (サイゼリヤ) is a Japanese chain of family-style Italian yōshoku restaurants, commonly abbreviated as "Saize" (サイゼ) * Marugame: Marugame Seimen (丸亀製麺), also known as Marugame Udon outside of Japan, is a Japanese fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in udon. The chain is operated by Toridoll Holdings Corporation based in Kobe. * Komeda: Japan's Komeda Coffee & Bakery Restaurant. Komeda Holdings (株式会社コメダ) is a franchise that operates the Komeda Coffee Shop, a chain of sweet stores, and three bakeries in Japan. * Ohsho: Gyoza no Ohsho (餃子の王将, Gyōza no Ōshō, lit. King of Gyoza) is a Japanese restaurant chain serving gyōza and other food from Japanese Chinese cuisine. I guess it could be replaced with big Western food chains. - Also, I knew it, it was her the one returning the ring, that was so funny haha. And this is not a note, but I loved her dress and the hairstyle, she looked so cute~ - I thought I had something else... but let's go with the important, and that's Shota's funny pics, it really looks like Fuma took these! LOL
[Notes Episode 4]Notes on Ep 4: - First of all, this episode was entertaining! I have one complaint, why it didn't happen?! the visit! I thought this was it, but regardless, this one has a big plot twist, I didn't see it coming~ LOL, but we got more Shoppi on screen which is so great! - About the soup they're having, I believe it's similar to butajiru, what I've found is: "metta-jiru," a well-known soup in Ishikawa Prefecture. It is full of ingredients such as sweet potatoes, pork, and burdock root, and will satisfy both your stomach and your heart. Also called ski-jiru I think because it's mostly eaten in cold places, I believe I read somewhere. - The part when he's about to ask her about the memories she has of him, I think he's going to ask whether they are all connected to the other guy, Kento? Maybe? Also, Takumi, give her the bracelet! - Later, Remi is using a phrase, in Japanese is ミイラ取りがミイラになる, often translated as going for wool and coming home shorn; less common: the mummy hunter himself becomes a mummy, meaning: intending to persuade someone and instead being persuaded oneself. - In case you're curious about the chat between Takumi and Shindo, it's not interesting at all, hahaha this is what I was able to read: Takumi: Can we place the order? Shindo: They still seem reluctant. I'll poke around a bit. Takumi: Okay~ Shindo: I've contacted them now. They'll probably get back to me soon. Takumi: Okay Shindo: They're officially asking for Natsume Design. They want us to present some designs next Wednesday. Takumi: Okay~ Shindo: Let's do our best! I guess this all was about the Nikitani presentation. Either way, I'm waiting for more silly pics between both of them~ - I forgot 2 things, one meaningless though, one was that I really like Shoppi's earrings! I mean Shindo's, and the other one is that he's parsley, the kind of thing I perceive as decorative in plates and meals, so I guess he means he never gets chosen or eaten, normally. I love these sorts of metaphors in the story, and how he was moved when Takumi actually noticed the parsley, but Takkun is so super focused on Yae that I think it'll be impossible for Shindo here. Sorry~
[Episode 5 Notes]Notes for episode 5: first of all, the beginning of this episode is so funny~ like she being so clumsy and him being so silly! I love the couple. I think I only have two notes here, - The name of the hotel in Dubai (ハッキキユン・アル・アラブ), I think it's a variation of the real one Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, of course, I haven't been there. - This is not a note, just me saying Shoppi was almost laughing at Fuma's overacting and that was so funny. This was after the cushion thing, lol I was kind of doubting when she goes to the door, but she literally left the notebook there!! LOL, and I translated the title because Takumi is such a nerdy idiot. - And lastly, this, because I don't know what a carafe is, it's actually a word from French and it seems it's a decanter I believe... I don't even drink coffee... I liked all their talks, especially the last part, it was really cute, but I do love it when they're been funny, that's the best part. Their Twitter account is super active!
[Notes on Ep. 6]Notes for episode 6: Later~ I'm super late~ No time!!! So, here we go, super late, it's more about the name of the desserts, レアチーズケーキ: gelatin cheesecake ガトーショコラ: Chocolate Gateau (Chocolate Cake) There were also a couple of interesting terms that I got to solve somehow, but Jun is so interesting when speaking. There was the thing about the nails, I got it into notes. I hope it made sense.
[Notes on ep 7, sort of]Notes for ep7: So, this one got a huge delay, It was impossible for me to do it following the same schedule, this week and last week were super crazy in rl. So, I totally forgot about the last episode's notes, I still have them, and I'll write them eventually, I think haha. I really liked this episode, I identify a lot with Remi, mostly with her way of describing the relationship she had with Takumi, like someone you respect, and you don't want to lose that special bond. I like this dorama a lot. Let's see how it continues... I'm not sure whether there was an actual note for this episode, I laughed a lot at Remi wishing to be Masaki in order not to suffer for the change in relationship with Takumi once he was married, if only she knew... haha It looks like she doesn't at all, well, Shindo is pretty much a mystery XD. See you~
[Notes on ep 8]Notes on ep8: I'm also wondering when I'm going to have time to write the notes for episode 6, I'm really in a hurry, I'm super full of things to do, and late for most of them, but I wanted to finish this and feel a little better for being in time for something! Either way, notes, - Kandagawa as mentioned by the president is a song: The folk group Kaguyahime released the song Kandagawa (神田川) on September 20, 1973, named after the Kanda River (Kandagawa). The lyrics reminisce over the bittersweet experiences of living with a girlfriend in a small room during Kitajō's college days.
And this is not a note, but I loved the part with the friend, Haruka, her story was so sweet, and even the talk show part was not bad either~ But I kind of miss more Shoppi time
- Tanuki: Within Japanese folklore, the tanuki have had a significant role since ancient times. The legendary tanuki are reputed to be mischievous and jolly, masters of disguise and shapeshifting but somewhat gullible and absentminded. In tanuki lore, their shapeshifting is said to be triggered by placing a leaf on their heads. This power-up is based on the mythology of tanuki using leaves to help themselves transform.
A pic to show what words can't and I can't put this on the same spoiler tag!
[Episode 9 NOTES]Episode 9: notes, well, I'm late!!! I don't have time, I was only able to do this because my cute little student had too much homework from other subjects and didn't come today, so, on notes, just the octopus sausage: wiener sausage with cuts in the base that cause the sausage to curl when cooked, resembling an octopus' limbs I'm sure we all know what it is, but I didn't know how to call it, but apparently this is it. And I'm really hating the ex-girlfriend, it's the least believable character, I mean! girl you practically only went out with him once!! like ten years ago, get over him! Takkun is not even that special LOL, well, it's Fuma after all, LOL. And I chose a really silly screen cap for the individual post because Masaki always makes me laugh, see you at the end!
[Notes Ep 10]Notes on episode 10: There's an episode 11!!! That was unexpected though no surprising. I'm late, I don't have time, I have a couple of notes, I'll do those later... I'll try... I'm not sure if the next episode is the last though, I really hate the ex-girlfriend character, maybe it's kind of personal to me LOL... I'll ramble about this more later... I guess... デパ地下: Department store basement, basement of a department store (where foodstuffs are usually sold) The soup is the same as mentioned before: "metta-jiru," a well-known soup in Ishikawa Prefecture. It is full of ingredients such as sweet potatoes, pork, and burdock root, and will satisfy both your stomach and your heart. In this episode, I decided to call it metta-jiru, since it's no longer so closely related to skii anymore. So, the curry with the leftovers will be, metta-curry.
[Notes on ep. 11]Notes on episode 11: this is no longer a notes section, but questions, my questions, are these two episodes necessary, or was the plot dragged? Was it worth it because Fuma looks so good and his acting was rather decent for me? Will I ever get the notes done here? Will the wife ever eat the suppon? And the most important one, will I forgive all of this if the end of it is a marriage ceremony with the princess-like dress in the super nice place Takumi designed? Takumi is such a nice character, where is my Takumi coming to get me, from a place I never asked him to come, nor told him the location. I want a Takumi LOL. Here are the notes: - hanakotoba: the language of flowers, which is slightly different from the Western meaning, according to my experience. I loved the story that Shindo told, Shoppi's character is such a nice guy! - Also it was about a word I think Takkun uses, which means dragging someone down with them, to involve; to drag into. And the same verb is like a motif here, it is used many times in different ways, very significant. - And about the chat group screenshot that we get to see, Takkun wasn't involved in writing any message: . There's a drinking party at work. . That's too sudden. . I have a drinking party too. . But I might be able to join you from karaoke! . I can go! . If anyone else can make it, I'll be at an izakaya called Mambo in front of the station at 7pm! . Karaoke will be at HIROOKIXX on Kokudo! And that was it! Don't get me wrong, I love how the plot is all connected and the whole significance and nuances in the terms and the use of words, but the whole thing with the ex-girlfriend is just super silly, I wish it was different, I hated having to go through all her whining more than once when I was checking it. She does nothing but crying and lying!!
[Notes on episode 12!]Episode 12: And that was it! I'm so sorry for being so late for episode 12, I was sick and I felt horrible while taking some meds, I was so super sleepy and I was unable to finish this. I think I watched the episode last Friday and I really liked it. I mean it's cheesy and maybe predictable, but they got me for a moment because it's Yae, I mean that girl!! I guess my favorite part from this episode it's the reason why Takumi finally believes it's him in the picture, I love when shows do that, when they give more meaning to what we have been watching this whole time, I just love that the reason was that he's a lefty, and Fuma is a lefty in real life, which was perfect and my fave part! LOL, also I think Fuma was comfortable, I like his acting, it is a bit over the top, but usual for a shoujo. I'm just rambling 'cause I don't have notes. I ended up liking the Kento guy a lot as well, and of course, the MVP is Shindo, what a character!! I want to see more of Shoppi! Overall, I'm glad I picked this dorama, I don't regret it, it was super cute and I enjoyed it till the end. Until the next project! Byes!
