I hear all these drinking stories at work . . . this happened to Susie, and that happened to Jack, and I wonder why they think it's so funny or great to drink and get drunk and puke their brains out, and have this or that terrible experience happen. I guess it's one of those things -- "you shoulda been there . . ."
Drinking = social activity; an excuse to talk, or dance, or whatever Getting drunk = feels nice, and everybody relaxes Puking brains out = not fun when it happens to you, but entertaining when you dodge that bullet and it happens to someone else. It's some kind of sanctioned sadistic satisfaction.
