Laziness is not an excuse.

You're right, I'm not lazy. It takes many years of training and a certain unquenchably determined mindset to be an olympic-quality slacker like me.

Procrastination is an art, as is misdirection of attention.

Most of those who are considered lazy are merely stellar examples of persons with long, distinguished careers in the arts of misdirection and procrastination.

I was going to reply about procrastination, but I think I'll wait until later.

Reminds me of a bit from one of Christopher Titus' stand-up shows (or perhaps his TV show, I forget). Couldn't find the exact quote on line, but it goes something like this: "By the time I was 17, I was tired of all my dad's crap, and since all I saw him do was sit around and drink beer, I figured I could take him. Well, little did I know that he wasn't lazy, he was just saving his energy. He kicked my ass." (again, rough, rough paraphrasing).

Hehe. Yes, exactly: a forced redefinition of terms through experience.

Ah, we were made for religious studies :)

Just because I wasn't doing what I was supposed to be doing doesn't mean I was idle. Not by a long shot.

I was differently occupied in self-directed endeavors.

An excellent way of describing it. I approve of that :)

I still haven't mastered the fine art of relaxing & yet I also get called lazy. Typically, it's because I'm doing something important to me that's not what the person calling me lazy wants me to be doing.

I *am* known to call people "slackers", but I'm almost always being sarcastic.

Slack, though, is different to me. But that might just be my Subgenius subconsciousness. . .

But yes, often those who are "lazy" just aren't doing what other people say they should be doing, which makes laziness a relative term :)

For someone who pretends to be laid back, you are often extremely sensitive.

Do these pretend pants make me look fat?

I'm not sensitive without reason: no one is. It's just that most people either don't know, or don't care enough to find out why people are sensitive about various things.

When we seek understanding, we often find that what one person considers extreme is what another considers perfectly normal. :)

Exactly. I'm with you on that completely.
