My body is like royalty to me, but it doesn't like what I'm feeding it

I miss the nutrition that fast food provided me. It sounds like a strange statement, but you don't realize how much you need some of the crap that's in it until you stop eating it.

I'm not one to actively try and "balance" my diet. I eat until I'm full (or until I'm being impolite) and then stop. I mean, hell, the stupid new food pyramid doesn't ( Read more... )

How are you for protein? It's not on either your added or lost list. You might try increasing/adding in some eggs or beans for fairly cheap protein, or lean meat/fish for slightly more expensive. Or hell, add in chuck since you're so damn skinny anyway.

Refined grain (like you find in most cereals, pastas, breads) will tend to spike your insulin and make you feel hungry again sooner unless it's mixed with fiber or protein, BTW, so if you're eating a bowl of cereal for breakfast that might be part of it.

May also be to do with your following the diurnal cycle due to devotionals; if you're following sunrise/sunset pretty closely, your body is correctly reading the change in days as "Summertime! There's lots of food! Eat it now while I can!" It's hard to fight evolution, man.

I've been eating ham steak for lunch, and supplementing with the Discoridan Sacrament (i.e. bunless hotdogs) in the evening.

Damn evolution. Maybe I should just become a Creationist. It's not like they evolve.

Is ID the "Missing Link" between Creationism and Evolution?

I wonder how they'd feel being compared to such a thing?

as long as it doesn't involve the term 'oligarchy' i'm sure he'll be all for that :)

(don't ask...)

It will certainly include the term "bacon". Is that acceptable?

Yep, that's my theory: it's just system shock that's caused this. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, just an interesting thing.

And actually, I don't believe I've lost weight. I'm just slimmer than I was.

Have you by chance gained muscle? Because that's what happened to me - I didn't really lose weight, I lost fat and gained muscle, but ended up in the same place.

It's possible, but not likely at this point. Certainly not enough to do the usual offset.

But then, I've been regularly getting more exercise in the recent past.

Well, you know I'm the very last person in the world to talk to about healthy eating habits... and despite the belly, I really don't eat too much (I remember you eating quite a bit more "all-you-can-eat steakfries" at Red Robin more than a few times) :) .

Right now I'm averaging about one-and-a-half meals a day with light (mainly healthy) snacking in the evening, although there have been times I just say f- it and get a pizza or greasy wings.

Yeah, no point in this post at all, just remember to eat more bacon, preferably bacon-wrapped bacon.

You saw the story about bacon on Fark today, right?

I often crave a good pizza, or fried chicken. I still have a few ethical quandaries about eating chicken, but they're less pronounced now than they used to be.

And yeah, fries. . . Man. . . We totally need to head back to Red Robin. Maybe if we hit on the server with a bit more skill, we can get her to bring us refills at a higher rate?

Mmmm, heritage breed bacon... I think I just had a porkgasm.

Why the ethical quandry about eating chicken (as opposed to any of the other factory-farmed animals)?

Well, it's a particular issue with the way that they're transported, actually. As my bro, red_sput will confirm, we were once driving through Kansas, and we were behind a chicken transport truck, which is basically a truck with 1 cubic foot cages, stacked on top of each other, open to the air at highway speeds, and the damn things are just squished in there. At least other livestock have more room to move about when transported ( ... )
