Did anyone else see this? I caught it on cable over the weekend. I had heard it wasn't that good, that the twist was obvious, but I didn't know. I was shocked. My aunt tells me someone wrote a short ( Read more... )

We liked "The Village." Moody, atmospheric, and historical--all my favorites. Your aunt may have been thinking of Margaret Peterson Haddix's RUNNING OUT OF TIME, which has a similar premise, but you know from the beginning (before, actually--it's on the flap copy). It's a great read.

Looking forward to "Lady in the Water" this weekend (the movie; not your beach trip. ;)).

Yes, that's the one!

LOL, Lady in the Water. I never get to the movies when they come out, I'll have to wait for the DVD or on cable. Life as a Mommy :)

They don't let my younglings in the theater (something about fur on the seats, or something)... but I've found that nothing seems to feed my muse like seeing movies in the theater. It almost doesn't matter what movie--it's something about being totally, physically, surrounded by the story. So while I'm working on revisions this summer, I am trying to see as many movies as possible (the goal is every weekend).

There are so many movies I want to see... Pirates, of course, and Lady in the Water. I usually just wait for DVD. I have a giant DVD collection, when little boy child is watching cartoons in the other room I'll watch. Some I love to watch over and over, like the Mummy (which really helped write my last book LOL) and some I only watch once in a while. Some I can only watch while I'm alone - like Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, or Moulin Rouge.

I'm like you, though - I LOVE movies!

THE VILLAGE was a great movie, as far as I'm concerned. I loved the way it shows that no matter what you do, you can't get away from the evil in this world, because it's in each and every one of us.

I was disappointed in THE VILLAGE. I felt as if I'd been manipulated. The movie held my interest until the twist.

Oh, Christine I was wondering if I could e-mail you about this e-publisher who has offered me a contract for EARRINGS.

Huh. Did you feel the same way about Sixth Sense? Anyway, sure thing darlin. You know the e-mail? It's on my website. Or send it to my LBF address.

No, I loved the Sixth Sense! In THE VILLAGE I felt cheated. I did love River Phoenix. If anything he and Ron Howard's daughter made the movie worthwhile.

LOL. I think you mean Joaquin? Hey, us 80's kids always think of River first.
