Day 14 - Favorite character in a book (of any sex or gender)

Well, I certainly can't pick just one, and I'm sure I'll forget some of my all-time favorites, but here are a few characters I find quite delightful:
  • Ariadne Oliver, the authoress/detective created by Agatha Christie and featured in such novels as Cards on the Table and Hallowe'en Party. ( Read more... )

Freddy Standen!! jngrl7 August 24 2010, 21:23:36 UTC
I LOVE FREDDY STANDEN! He is such a great character for such a wonderful book. I have loved Georgette Heyer for years and have read (and own) almost all of her historical romances. This is the only one that I couldn't exactly predict how it was going to end.

I've been following your blog for a while now (found you on LibraryThing) and I just want to thank you for all the great books I have found because of your recommendations!

Freddy is so adorable. And I agree -- in Cotillion, there's definitely another possible hero for Kitty, and I love how Heyer subverts expectations by NOT having her end up with the handsome and rakish guy.

Also, thank you so much for the compliment! :) It's definitely time for me to revisit you on LT as well.

Ariadne Oliver is made of win. I'm currently reading Cards On The Table and loving her more with each scene.

Also, found an Austen piccie (new covers) and thought of you

OMG, I love those Austen covers! I want ALL those editions now!

Also, glad to hear you're enjoying Cards on the Table. It might be one of my favorite Christies.

Oops...didn't mean to ignite book lust! They are beautiful covers, though. I just hope they've paid as much attention to the type/spacing/interior. They probably have. I get really irritated by those leather bound books with awful type (I'm such a snob)

Oh, I agree with you. One hopes for the same beauty inside the book that there is on the cover!

And it's too late -- the book lust is overwhelming. I shall now post about it. :)
