Day 12. Least favorite Austen heroine.
Poor Fanny Price! Nobody likes her, and I have to admit that I don't either. She has many good qualities, but the truth is, she doesn't really have a sense of humor, and she's just not very much fun. I hate throwing her under the bus, though, because I do admire her. She is the only character in Mansfield Park

I do! She's not my favourite heroine, but she's not my least favourite either. I think that would be the heroine of either "Persuasion" or "Northanger Abbey" - as proven by the fact that I can't even remember their names ;) Those two are my least favourite novels as well, so I think that probably has something to do with it.

I really need to re-read Mansfield Park sometime. I do admire Fanny as well for not backing down on her principles.

I really want to like Fanny, but I just don't! I think that's why most film adaptations of Mansfield Park are so unfaithful to the book: they all try to make Fanny Price more likable -- in fact, more like Elizabeth Bennet!
