Story Followup
Puppy has found a very loving home, where she is slightly disconcerted to have her growling ignored by the resident small dog (deaf) and the two resident kitties (outweigh her by 5-6 pounds each). She has figured out how to remove her splint at will, and is enjoying her occasional treats with cheese. -
And the Heat Returns...
and saps all of the energy I should have after not having the breeding season schedule anymore. I'm now back down to a quite reasonable schedule, which is that of getting in at 8am (instead of 7am) and getting home sometime between 5 and 7 mostly, as opposed to some time between 8 and midnight. Breeding Season
So, we've gotten to the toughest part of the year. That part being April, where we're still trying to get a number of mares pregnant in time to have an early-ish foal for next year (race horse birthdays are automatically set at January 1st, regardless of what day they're actually born, resulting in deficits for those babies born late when they get ( Read more... ) -

I seem to recall promising a post around Thanksgiving time, but as my boss went to DC for Thanksgiving with his family and I ended up on call, things were a little busier than usual for me. Workitywork
So I have been in Vinton and working now for 4 weeks. My schedule is a bit erratic - on calls change from week to week, and once we hit October and the other intern leaves and the racetrack work picks up, I'll probably be on call 2-3 times a week. Dust
Two weeks ago, I graduated vet school. Today, I finally got the last bits and pieces together to mail to the licensing board so I can actually practice in NYS. Including the money order, the copy of the diploma, and the 2x2" passport style photo taken within the last year. What else have I been doing?
