But, I am not sure how much good trying to explore on the other side of the barrier will do. I myself tried that when the barrier was down and at that time I encountered a force that I suspect would have torn me apart if I had continued to try to leave.

I don’t know if that force will be a problem for you if you remain on the ground, but the further one climbs into the sky the stronger the force seems to become. It was initially undetectable by scanners and the only way I discovered that it existed was due to a sudden cut that appeared on my cheek. Once I reached that height my scans could pick up the general layout of the force.
