Sookie was doing her closing tasks; refilling the condiments, wiping down the tables, collecting misplaced silverware, etc. When everything seemed satisfactory, she untied her apron and stuffed it in her cubby hole before grabbing her purse and heading out into the parking lot ( ... )

Amelia's eyes widened as she heard Sookie's voice, bubbly and pleasant, not too far from her brewing confrontation. Wincing, Amelia's gaze darted back to the other witch, who now looked downright furious, from what little Amelia could make out of her expression in the shadows. "Uh... Sookie!" Amelia called out, trying to emphasize how bad this situation could get if Sookie came any closer. "I, uh, thought you were headed home for the night. It's pretty late, isn't it?"

Before Amelia could give her any more subtle warnings, though, the unfamiliar witch raised her hands and began to murmur, lightning jumping between her palms. "I'm growing tired of your distractions, Amelia. We're finishing this now."

In the back of her mind, Amelia called up a shielding spell and recited it in one quick breath as she bolted towards Sookie, aiming to grab her and take her down to the ground with her. This wasn't good at all, an innocent bystander caught in a witch's quarrel - and Amelia would be damned if she let Sookie die right in the middle of it.

From the tone in Amelia's voice, Sookie could tell this was not your average confrontation. She tried to keep the conversation going, "Nope, I had to close up. Sam wasn't feeling well--" she stopped short, biting her lip as the other woman seemed to grow taller the closer she came to them and sparks seemed to be coming out of her hands ( ... )

Amelia rolled off of Sookie as quick as she could, concentrating as much as she could on keeping her shield in place. The magical lightning was now arcing around them, deflected by Amelia's spell, but it wouldn't keep them safe forever ( ... )

Sookie was feeling so relaxed talking to Amelia, someone from the 'freaky' side of things, her guard was completely down, so she knew what Amelia was going to say before the words came out. But, she still listened, to both.

She nodded along with her words, "I don't have any experience with that myself, but that must be tough." She didn't want this to be a pity party, so she neglected to mention her own parents, who were no longer around.

Her smile returned and she let out a laugh as Amelia hoped to find a man for herself, "Just stay away from my brother, Jason," she said, "And this isn't an overprotective warning. He just really likes the ladies," she shook her head slightly. "But, maybe you'll find someone. If any other out-of-towners come in 'cause there aren't many hot guys around here," she said, laughing slightly. "Pretty sure the only reason I'm dating Bill is 'cause he just moved here."

"You lucky girl..." Amelia mused, a broad smile spread across her face. "I'll just have to cross my fingers. I wouldn't dare dabble in love spells. I don't trust myself with summonings, let alone messing around with other people's free will."

Amelia took a moment to look around the kitchen and thought back to her hotel room. True, it had a little kitchenette in the corner, but that only included a sink and a coffee pot that whined obnoxiously as it brewed. Compared to this kitchen - comfortable and cared for - hers paled considerably in comparison. Not that there was much of a comparison to be made.

"I hope I'm not keeping you from getting some sleep," Amelia said, remembering how late it was. She wasn't exactly tired - she was still wired from that night's excitement - but she didn't want to impose on anyone.

Sookie smiled wide. It was the first time she could really gush about Bill or be proud of the fact that she was dating him. She definitely considered herself lucky, especially after attempting to go on several 'normal' dates with them all ending badly. It was never nice to know that your date was only thinking about what you would look like topless or that they are harboring gay tendencies.

"I've only seen love spells on tv, but they never end well," she said, "So, it's good you're steerin' clear. It just takes time, I think. This is the first real boyfriend--if I can call him that yet--I've ever had and I'm already twenty-five."

She shook her head at Amelia's comment, "I'm used to bein' up late, workin' at the bar. But, definitely getting on a more vampire schedule now," she giggled lightly, "But, hey, if it's too late for you to head home, you can stay here for the night. 'Specially if there might be someone out to get you some more. I'd feel better knowin' you weren't drivin' into some more attacks."

"Yeah, TV gets a few things right about witches, love spells being one of those things. They're pretty tricky. But," she said, changing the subject back to Bill, "first boyfriends are divine. I can only imagine how hard dating would be, knowing what the guy is thinking all the time..."

Amelia grew quiet as she considered Sookie's offer. True, there was someone out to get her, and Amelia wasn't really one hundred percent sure that she was gone for good. It would be real easy for Rachelle to hit up the hotels in town and find Amelia's name and room number...

"If you don't mind... that would be great. I'm still a little jittery after everything that happened, so it's probably not a great idea for me to drive."
