This was done basically to get reacquainted with my paint and brushes beyond the general washes I've been doing of late. I went a lot more quick and dirty than I will for the final versions of the Stalker Variations illustrations, but I'm getting the feel for it back.

Thanks. I basically wanted to do something to get back into the painting before I tackled the final stages of the Variations. I have a couple alternate versions to finish sketching out before I go into it, but I think I'll be ready.

Thank you very much.

This is painted in acrylics, actually. I started with a neutral color. Then I painted image using a chiaroscuro technique with a dark sepia and white. Then I added about a dozen layers of glazes to add the color. I finished off by pulling out the light and shadow with heavier applications of white and darker colors.

I appreciate the encouragement. It's good to be back at the painting. It's been a while.

I needed to blow out the cobwebs, and I feel this is a good start.

Heh. I had to go for a swagger around the yard after reading that. The Shaft theme rings through my head as I twist my Fu Manchu and slash at the next piece with my brush.

You've got me loving painting again, so thank you many times over.

As always, truly brilliant work.

Hey, that "Under The Birthing Moon" picture you sent me got destroyed by water along with a lot of my other stuff.

Do you have a print of it at all? I'll obviously pay postage...

I do, as it happens. If you get with me at chaos333(at)gmail[dot]com we can make it happen. What I have is an older scan, but it looks prettypretty.

And thanks for the complement. I hope things are going well. I appreciate the latest tracks you've shared at MySpazz. It was hard resisting the urge to rattle the windows with "Instinct" again at 3am last night.
