Cardinal and grosbeak!
Last week, we started getting a daily visit from a very colourful cardinal. It was the first time we had ever seen one. They are quite a sight. Such a vibrant shade of red.

A pigeon! That's the last one on my list!
I picked up a bird feeder yesterday. It is made of recycled plastic. The lady at the Urban Nature Store told me that squirrels haven't figured out how to destroy it yet, but warned me that squirrels can still eat out of this one. Little did she know, that I doubt they will as they have a daily feast of peanuts and corn waiting for them!

Corn or Peanuts: The Great Debate
Recently, I have noticed that given the option, the squirrels on the lawn prefer peanuts on the ground over the moderately more difficult to obtain corn.
I ran out of peanuts this morning, so the squirrels got to have a fabulous feast on corn! 3 cobs worth! It was observed that they ate all the corn! One could even be seen dragging a full cob away ( Read more... ) -
First Squirrel Feeders
There are many squirrels in the neighborhood. Every morning, you can watch them scamper across the streets and hop around the lawns.
I decided to install some squirrel feeders to feed the little guys. Squirrels seem to go nuts for dried corn (unintended pun).
