Yes... it's hard for Severus to play along with this, but he does because he loves Harry, and because he understands, even if he doesn't find the same absolution in it. Harry is absolved through the pain, Severus is absolved through the healing.

It's funny you say that, because I had the HARDEST time with the opening paragraph(s). The entire story was written except for that, and I really needed something to set the tone and open it gracefully... I'm glad I succeeded!

Thank you so much! I really wanted to bring out the emotional side of such a scenario - not so much a focus on pain, but on the *need* for pain... so glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you very much! The situation touched me in a certain way that I can't really define.. but Harry and Severus both carry around a lot of demons, and this seemed like a probable way they would exorcise them. I'm glad you found it valuable!
