A Letter to Adam Lambert regarding the AMA performance heard 'round the world

Nov 25, 2009 13:34

Dear Mr. Lambert,

I feel I should begin this letter by stating I am not a fan of your music. This does not mean I feel you are not talented- because the truth is quite the opposite- but it does mean I am not a fan of the particular style you use in your music. I am, however, a fan of performers like Marilyn Manson and the like, and I feel that ( Read more... )

I think everyone is making way too big a deal over something that Gackt did 10 years ago.

Also, it's a great performance. I think Adam Lambert is probably not concerned with 'knowing better' or staying within his audience's comfort zone. This is huge publicity, bad or good. He probably knows this, and so do his managers.

Ha HA.. Yeah I think its stupid and he just did it to be in the press. He probably figures that this will make his 15 minutes last 20 or maybe even 30 at the most. He took the advice that "No Press is bad Press".. lol.

I LOVE your letter. What he did was set us back and put queer people in a bad light (like we needed that to begin with) and only reinforced that homo and bi sexuality is nothing more then a bunch of people running around having sex and nothing more. That we do not have morals nor values or goals, this is what the LGBT community fought for years ago? I don't think so. I don't adhere to "earning your right" Madonna is heterosexual therefore it's a double standard, like it or not, that's how life is right now. Minorities of all flavors must work harder in general no it's not fair but it's reality. Also Adam think back to the brave men and women who paved the way to give us the rights we enjoy today, now think about how many people who are already against the "bisexual/homosexual lifestyle" and how your stupidity impacts us all and to LGBT people who are defending his performance wake up assholes and stop excusing everything a LGBT person in the public eye does just because they are LGB or T - don't play that card it will only hurt the ( ... )

You know, it's funny, I was looking at other people's reaction on YouTube, and I noticed a huge rift between those who feel like us, and those who were all in favor of it. It seemed the biggest difference in opinion boiled down to age. I think it's those of us who DID deal with prejudice and have seen acceptance slowly come forward who thought he was crossing a line. The rest were, frankly, young GAY (emphasis on that gay there) males, who just wanted to see their side of life represented, IMO.

Even if he was straight pulling something like that I would have thought it was out of line. Even if he was female, etc., etc. Sometimes I just don't want to think of sex or have it shoved in my face. Can we get a little thought and imagination, please?!
