Icon thieves and their (?) reactions
As some of you might know, I´ve started a blacklist for thieves of icons, screencaps, bases and stuff.
As I said I won´t put down people right away, but give them a hint (that they should credit) beforehand.
Yesterday I found someone that didn´t give credit to ANY of the icons she was using (again). So I said she should give credit or if she doesn´t want to, then she should delete the icons.
I admit it was wrong of me to post that in a non-topic-related community. I should have said her that in her own journal.
But what I got for reminding her that she should give credit, was that ....

I didn´t expect that the conversation would turn out to be that long ! That´s why I´ve just posted it in this community without thinking.
Well, she did delete all the icons she didn´t know where she got them from. And I thought that was the end of the story.
But as you can see there were some people that posted anonymous. And insulted me. Calling me stupid.
And that credit is not needed cuz stupid 100x100 stuff could make ANYONE.
Ahm ... that might be true, but - depending on the icon - it´s REALLY a lot of work, don´t you agree ?
And if I - as an icon maker - say that MY rules are to give CREDIT if you want to USE my icons, then please do so or just don´t take my icons.
Am I that wrong ???? Am I ?
I know my icons are not special, but that doesn´t mean that people can go ahead and steal them right ? And I wasn´t saying that only for me in that entry - as you can read the person had a lot of icons (also anime icons) from other icon makers (and they weren´t credited, too !)
Of course not every icon maker uses THAT rule, but most of you do right ? What´s your opinion about that ? Am I wrong ? Are they ?
I´m really infuriated and dejected.
Should I put people right away in the blacklist ? Without giving a *warning* ? Because if I hadn´t warned that user, she would now BE in the blacklist. And because I *warned* her, that´s what I got as a *reward*
Reading what those people (or perhaps it was only ONE person) wrote anonymous really makes me think about quitting to make icons. :/ ......
It´s so much work to make icons (although mine aren´t very good - I know that) - but it´s NO work to credit the person who made them, right ?
And conerncing one comment: That I didn´t give credit for sushi pics. That´s just because I´ve found them on google (like the cat and tea ones, too, there were only a few of them and most of the time you couldn´t figure out who made them) - other than that I give ALWAYS credit to every little tiny bit I´m using !!
I really hate getting on people´s nerves - saying that they MUST credit. I really don´t want to ! But on the other hand I can´t stand it when people are stealing stuff (most of them don´t even know that they are stealing ! that´s why I speak with them before putting them into the blacklist - and as you can see the blacklist is still empty - perhaps I´m too nice ?)
ARGH I just don´t get it. Am I really so wrong ? Did I get it wrong ? Is it ok to let other people steal our stuff ?
Is it ok to be insulted like that ? All I did was saying that she has to credit.
*sigh* ...
Well, please don´t post there !!! Because this community is NOT about icons plus it wouldn´t change a thing.
But please let me hear your opinion about the whole thing.
