I love Dark!Doctor too, and there has really been an undercurrent of that. I suspect there are ramifications of the Time Lord Victorious still echoing throughout Time!

Karen G's acting has really turned around and she just blew me away this week. And broke my heart. And Arthur D.--I can imagine how wonderful he was in Faustus.

Do you think they've stopped searching for the baby? Are they accepting Mels/River as the way things will be? Most parents would rip the Universe apart to find their child!

You may be right about the Time Lord Victorious! Even if he backed off from that, there can still be consequences rippling out. Actually it often seems as though Eleven has embraced the idea that is master of time.

While I've enjoyed Karen as Amy from the beginning, I agree that she has improved mightily from then until now. It's too bad the actors don't get many chances to show their range! When they do they're great at it!

Heh. I was going to make a dig about the COMPLETE LACK OF MELODY mentions in the episode but I loved the episode too much to bring that into my review.

I thought this was a great episode too. I was legitimately getting very snively in the end scenes. I thought Karen did a great job at being two Amy's simultaneously. It certainly felt like this episode had returned to the emotional 'heart' of the show that sometimes feels missing due to the sheer twistiness of plot. That said, I find it hard to hate on my show, but I hope it satisfies those who have been less than happy with the series of late.

Yes! For me it's all about the emotions so I was very happy to have an episode that focused on that while still having a time looping twisty plot.

More Rory lines: Then I don't want to travel with you! and This isn't fair. You're turning me into you. How much more can Rory take before he actively detests the Doctor? He was never starry-eyed about him in the first place but that was some serious disenchantment in this episode!

Maybe they're building up to disenchantment like this being why Amy and Rory will leave at the end of the season? Then again, far be it from Moffat to include a characterization arc, so perhaps it's just coincidence XD

We shall see! Will there be character development that isn't reset at the end of the episode? It would be nice.

... I still don;'t get how the Doctor is being a dick.

He could ahve been lying, but we don't know either way. If he was, we know he has deep-seated issues that make it not really nice to get mad at him for but for which doing so will maybe help him... and if he WASN'T, he feels like shit for having to choose the universe over old! Amy- in which case, someone's being selfish and it's not him.

ORR, are the characters of Amy and Rory just supposed to be mad at him because they think he's not trying hard enough?
REally?

SOOo we just gotta see how they play this in the next eppy!!!

Did the Doctor get the most optimal result in the end? Yes.

However, he did it by lying and manipulating both Amys and Rory every step of the way which makes him a dick. (I would like to note here that the Doctor is frequently throughout his life a manipulative dick but that doesn't mean that Eleven gets a pass for this time.)

It wasn't the choice of the universe or old!Amy since the Doctor KNEW from the start that there was no way to have both Amys on board - it was old!Amy versus young!Amy and to get young!Amy it required the Doctor betraying old!Amy.
