I have to say that I absolutely ADORE the new Hamlet trailer! (Go watch it! Disclaimer: Hamlet is NOT showing tonight. It will be showing on the 26th in Britain.) *loves it to pieces* As an American who did not make the long trek to England to see this live, I'm so pleased to finally see the actors ACTING. I read the reviews and looked the pictures

As you can tell from my icon, I had to make a few caps of my own last night. I can't even begin to calculate how many times I've watched this trailer at this point. His reading of, "Thus conscience makes cowards of us all"... goosebumps. I did see a few people tweet/blog that if that soliloquy does not become the definitive filmed version, they'll eat their hats.

It's just gorgeous. *sighs happily* There's something very intimate about his delivery that I adore.

I'm so looking forward to seeing what not having to project does for his delivery. It was arresting in the theatre, but there's always a bit of a push-pull between an intimate reading and having to get one's voice to the back of the theatre. I had wondered (and I think even left a comment for John Wyvern in the blog) about how they were going to handle the soliloquies, because in the theatre they were mostly delivered to every single person sitting in that room, individually. The rhetorical questions Hamlet poses become way less rhetorical when he's really asking you, and that was part of the power of the production. But I see here that it looks like they've gone to a direct-to-camera approach, which I think is probably going to kill me dead.

It's a leaked trailer (far as I can tell). That's the one they'll be showing on the 26th.
