Synopsis/Summary:  When he was twelve, Donghae's parents were killed by...something mysterious.  When he was twelve, Donghae lost everything that mattered in his life.  When he was twelve, Donghae's life was completely turned around and everything he knew defied what was truly reality.  Now, eight years later and he's a vampire's worst nightmare - Seoul's best vampire hunter.  However, the night he meets his match in the Supernatural world, he's in for another twist as he learns more about the mysterious murder of his parents, his forgotten past, and an arcane feeling called love.

“Why do you want to become a hunter?” Master asked suddenly one day.  Donghae turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow before Master continued, “Besides the fact that I’m technically teaching you against your will anyway.”

Donghae thought about it for a moment before pulling his coat off and placing it on the coat rack by the door.

“What will you do if I tell you?”  He asked.  Master shrugged before tossing his coat to Donghae who caught it easily and placed it on the coat rack as well.

“You’re only thirteen, and I know for a fact that I can’t just throw you out so I’m stuck with you until you’re eighteen,” Master replied, causing Donghae to pout.

“Hey!”  The then-brunette crossed his arms and followed his Master into the kitchen.

“So, why do you want to be a vampire hunter?”  Master asked again.  Donghae stared up at the tall man and sighed, knowing that the answer he had was going to get him a good beating.  That, and he didn’t exactly know what he wanted to do once he was a vampire hunter.

“I don’t know yet…” Donghae mumbled as Master opened the refrigerator to search for the take-out they had ordered last night.  Donghae nearly burst out laughing when he remembered the deliveryman’s face the moment Master had opened that door holding his vampire slaying axe imbued with a powerful ancient magic that only Master knew the origins of.

“Well then…I guess you’ll find out your reason someday,” Master said, standing straight again once he had found the orange chicken in the white carton box.

Donghae pouted for a moment before asking, “What was your reason?  You know, for becoming a vampire hunter?”

Master froze at the question, turning only after Donghae had blinked several times to answer.  His stormy gaze landed on the young brunette as an all too familiar smirk slid into place on the man’s lips, “I’ll tell you…someday.”

“You always give me the same answer over and over again!”  Donghae pouted, excessively gesturing as he did so, “It’s always someday, someday, someday!  Why don’t you ever tell me anything?!”

“Oh I do tell you things…”  Master replied, scooping out some rice and placing the bowl in front of Donghae, “All you need to do is figure them out.  And you will…someday.”  The goddamned smirk was back.  Donghae groaned and slammed his forehead into the island counter in the center of the cozy kitchen.

Someday…

Donghae yawned, rolling over and rubbing at his eyes that were still heavy with sleep and a spot on his neck that throbbed with a dull ache.  He could feel the cold winter sun shining in through a window to his left, cutting in between the drapes and casting directly into his eyes.  Although Donghae had never doubted how powerful a sliver of sunlight could be, this tiny line was just pure aggravation as the dark haired hunter threw velvet covers off and looked around the foreign room, the events of the night before - was it the night before? - passing through his mind.

The room was a considerably modern one, with what Donghae identified as bamboo wooden flooring, off-white painted walls and ebony double doors that led to the rest of the unknown house.  The bed was a simple one with merely a black-painted wooden frame and headboard.  Two nightstands stood on either side of the bed, all of which were pushed up against a wall.  To the left of Donghae, an entire wall was complete glass with colossal drapes the color of the night sky covering them.  In the center of the commodious room was a pale tan couch and sofa set arranged neatly in a rectangle on top of an ebony plush carpet.  In the midst of the couches was a glass coffee table and on the wall opposite of the one the bed was pushed against was a large flat screen TV.  Underneath that large TV was a full wall of mirrors.  Looking around, Donghae noticed speakers in all four corners of the room and a giant sound system was at the end with all the mirrors.

He got up slowly, once he had taken in his surroundings.  He checked for routes of escape.  There were the windows, which really was just a glass wall, so he guessed they didn’t open.  Then there were the doors.  The large double doors and the door at the other end of the room.  However, by the way it was left slightly open, Donghae guessed that was probably a bathroom.  That left the double doors.  He quietly made his way to the door, placing a hand on the cold handle.

Donghae felt vulnerable, dressed only in his boxers and a wife-beater.  Where were his other clothes?  And weapons on top of that?

He pushed the door open, only for a black mass to swoop in and pin him to the glass wall behind him.  The soft fabric of velvet met his face as he was pushed into the wall with his arms twisted painfully behind him by the mysterious figure.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” A low voice hummed into his ear.  Donghae growled, low in his throat as the other chuckled darkly.

“Who are you?” Donghae asked viciously, venom dripping from every word.

“Ah-ah,” The other replied, “I’m not giving my name away that easily.  Tell me what yours is first.  It’s common courtesy, after all.”

Donghae closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath before replying flatly, “Aiden.  Now who the hell are you?!”

The figure shifted behind him, and…Donghae had to be imagining, but was that the sound of fluttering wings?

“You’re lying~  But I’ll tell you anyway.  I’m Kibum.  Kim Kibum, the demon!”

Donghae inhaled sharply.  A demon?  There was no way…  He had heard of some demons lurking about, but had never come face to face with one.  However...he had heard of demon hunters, and Master had kept a special chest of strange weapons locked separately away from the vampire hunting weapons in their basement.  Donghae guessed that like vampires, demons were a carefully guarded secret that no one but those who needed to know knew about.

“What?  Shocked?”  Kibum asked, and Donghae shook his head violently.

“No, I figured.  Are there any more like you?” Donghae asked, voice low and controlled.

“Hm…in the mansion, we do have an incubus.  Outside, who knows how many more demons there are?”  Kibum chuckled softly, “You’d have your hands quite full.  On the bright side, there’s only one vamp-”

“Enough Kibum, it looks like you’re scaring him,” An all too familiar voice stated.  Donghae froze upon the sound, the faint throbbing in his neck beginning to throb more; however, not with pain.

The strong grip on his arms lessened before disappearing completely before Donghae whipped around, striking a handsome boy with dark skin, ebony hair, and a pearly white smile across the face with his fist.  The demon boy stumbled back a few steps when fifteen feet of silky black wings sprouted from his back.  The air caught under the wings, allowing the boy to keep balance.

“What was that for?” Kibum shouted, turning around and glaring at Donghae who glared straight back.

“My, my,” A redheaded vampire appeared in Donghae’s line of vision.  The dark haired hunter glared at the man he had been hunting the night he was bitten.  “What a feisty little vampire slayer we have here.”

“Shut up,” Donghae growled, “Where are my clothes and weapons?”

Kibum looked Donghae up and down, causing the vampire hunter’s skin to prickle under the scrutinizing gaze.  The demon walked up to Donghae, walking around Donghae in a circle as he looked over the hunter’s body.

“Hm…not bad here, slayer,” Kibum smiled, cupping Donghae’s butt and giving it a squeeze.  Donghae let out an oh-so-very masculine squeak before hitting Kibum upside the head.

“YAH!”  Donghae cried, backing away from Kibum…only to back straight into the red haired vampire.  Suddenly, lips were pressed against the area where he had been bitten and Donghae felt his knees weaken at the suddenly waves of pleasure rolling off the bite mark.

“Mmn…you smell good,” The vampire whispered, and Donghae saw Kibum lick his lips as the redhead behind him bared his teeth.  There was a slight pinch and suddenly, the strange sensation of his blood being disrupted from its usual flow came into play.  There was a dull ache of pain overshadowed by pleasure present as Donghae gripped the vampire’s arm tightly to hang on to as his knees grew weaker and weaker.

His vision began to blur, and the last thing he heard an saw before falling into oblivion was Kibum heading toward him, saying, “Hyukjae hyung, should we introduce him to the rest of the ‘family’ later if he wakes up?”

~*~*~

Waking up was a blur.  Everything was foggy and there was a dull ache in the back of his head, signifying a headache that meant he had slept too much.  Donghae groaned as he pushed himself off the bed.  However, even half-asleep, his hunter abilities never failed him.  He sensed a presence to his left, and his hand shot out to attack it.  The presence dodged the attack quickly, only to grab his arm and pin it behind his back.

“Ow!”  Donghae cried.

“That’s what you get for disobeying,” Donghae looked up to see the redhead who Donghae vaguely remembered Kibum calling “Hyukjae hyung”.

“Now tell me your name,” Hyukjae said, smirking as he rolled Donghae over.  Donghae pouted, but complied anyway.  Names weren’t much of a big deal.  He could just come up with a new one later anyway.

“Donghae…yours?”

Hyukjae smiled pleasantly, “Lee Hyukjae.  But I’d rather go by Eunhyuk.”

“Great.  Now what the hell am I doing here?”  Donghae asked, raising an eyebrow.

“That’ll have to wait for later.  For now…” Hyukjae picked up a simple outfit of a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, “Get dressed and meet me outside of my room.”

Donghae stared at the redheaded vampire incredulously before the other sent him a look, which sent the hunter up and scrambling to put clothes on immediately.

Once Donghae was done, Hyukjae took the hunter by the arm and nearly dragged him outside.  He barely remembered turning down three different hallways before everything became a blur and the next thing he knew, he was standing in a cosmopolitan-styled living room.

Donghae counted about eighteen people standing or sitting in the room.  Hyukjae smirked upon entering the room as he dragged Donghae closer to him.

“You’re gonna be staying here for a while,” Hyukjae said, “So you’re gonna have to meet the rest of them.”

The vampire gestured over to a familiar demon with angel wings the color of ebony folded against his back.

“This is Kibum, as you should know,” Hyukjae said, before turning to a muscular looking male off to the side, “That’s Kangin.  He’s a werewolf.”

Donghae stared at Hyukjae, wide-eyed.  A werewolf?

“What?  And you two don’t go Twilight on each other?”  Donghae asked, can’t helping but make a reference to the ludicrously popular book about a world that humans make stupidly false guesses about.

“Haha, very funny,” Hyukjae responded dryly as he turned to a lanky teenager off to the side.  His face was practically pressed against a PSP as Hyukjae introduced him.  He was standing next to a small male with neon pink hair.  “That’s Kyuhyun.  A mind reader.  And the guy next to him is Sungmin, a shapeshifter…”

The whole introductions thing went on for about an hour.  He was introduced to a motherly male wearing white and with large white wings named Leeteuk who stood next to the burlesque werewolf Donghae had been introduced to earlier on.  Next to him had been a fairly muscular and good-looking male named Siwon who was a heavenly knight - a paladin.  Behind those two were Heechul and HanGeng.  Heechul was the infamously bitchy incubus Kibum had told Donghae about earlier and HanGeng was a calm Chinese necromancer.  Donghae shuddered at the thought of how and why that peaceful-looking man had chosen to learn one of the more forbidden arts.  Anyway, on another note, Heechul and HanGeng were dating, so, as Heechul had said, “Don’t you think about trying anything.”  On the other couch were Ryeowook and Yesung.  Ryeowook was a petite elf whereas Yesung was an eccentric aura-reader.  Donghae wondered what his aura was like, and that was when he saw Yesung mouth something along the lines of 'red with a hint of purple'.  Then there was Shindong, Henry, and Zhou Mi.  Shindong was a comedic house nymph; Henry was a cute psychic - oracle-style, and Zhou Mi was a fashionable type of spirit.  However, which spirit, Donghae didn’t know.  Hyukjae also told Donghae that there was a female fairy that sometimes visited.  Her name was Nari and she was Shindong’s fiancée.  Therefore, Donghae should expect to see her fluttering about sometimes.

~*~*~

“So, what do you think?”  Hyukjae asked, a gummy, fang-showing grin on his face as Donghae sat on the other’s bed.

“I’ve never seen so many supernaturals under one roof,” Donghae mumbled, “I mean, there’s Club Yeongwon, but…that’s really only mainly vampires…”

Donghae was a hunter for vampires.  However, these many supernaturals…he wished he had more knowledge and weapons on how to rid of them all.  Suddenly, powerful arms slammed him into the bed with a vicious growl.

“You even dare hurt them, and I’ll rip your head straight off your shoulders!”  Hyukjae growled like a feral beast.  Donghae smirked at him as Hyukjae slammed him back into the bed.

“I’d like to see you try,” Donghae smirked.

Hyukjae rolled his eyes as his eyes turned a blood scarlet color as he growled, “Try?  You’re the one with no weapons or armor.  I can kill you right now.”  Donghae coughed, feeling Hyukjae’s hand tighten around Donghae’s neck.  He felt a prick as an elongated nail pierced his skin, causing blood to stream from it in a thin rivulet

The edges of Donghae’s vision were beginning to become blurry as he gripped Hyukjae’s arm in vain to get the vampire to stop before he suffocated.  Hyukjae smiled sadistically as he saw the fear and pain flash in Donghae’s eyes for the briefest of moments.

“But…I won’t kill you just yet,” Hyukjae smirked as he let go of Donghae and leaned in to lap up the sweetly intoxicating blood that was trickling down the side of Donghae’s neck and staining the black sheets beneath the boy a reddish color.

“W-why the hell am I here?”  Donghae growled after the wound had sealed.  Hyukjae smirked devilishly as he leaned in to kiss the side of Donghae’s neck.

“You’re my new toy, of course.”
