Ok. So. I'm all for different political ideas. I understand that people have different beliefs and values than I do. I have very close friends who are both conservative and liberal, and I'd like to think that I'm pretty open minded and tolerant of everyone's opinions.

I agree with you to a certain extent; I also really wish more voters would educate themselves about the issues at stake, and not just vote because of who a certain celebrity is endorsing or because of the last smear ad they saw.

That being said, I DO take issue with this piece's assertion that it's young people who are the only uneducated voters. There are MILLIONS of uninformed adults of all ages, and I am FURIOUS that this story boils down to "The little kids need to sit down and be quiet while the grownups are talking." I get mad whenever ANYONE tells me that I should keep my pretty little trap shut, whether that be because I'm young or female or "elite" or short or whatever.

Also? Ed, you are in the vast minority when it comes to political know-how. I agree that people should vote for better reasons than "He's black!" or "She shoots polar bears", and we all could use a rewatching of School House Rock, but most people have lives. Just because my mother doesn't get all the ins and outs of the tax system doesn't mean she ( ... )
