I wish I could say I was surprised by this ...

Dear Moronic Ex Room Mate,

No, you may not bring a concealed firearm into the grove. I don't care how many permits to carry you may have. There is absolutely no reason for you to be parading around grove events with a gun on your hip. Unless of course you just want people to know what a big fucking man you are, what a mighty and powerful arm chair ( Read more... )

ouch my brains, shut the fuck up, fail, what the fuck, thankfully ex room mates, things that make my brain bleed, stupid people

Oh yeah, same guy.

I'm all fine with having guns for protection (even if part of my brain winces at giving the weapon to the wanna be warrior), within reason. If he's not worried about being mugged or assaulted in the grove itself, then its not within reason (and if that is a concern of yours, again, why are you coming?).

Yeah, having an armed security force that rituals is not exactly wonderful PR and not something we really need. Even still, were such a thing to become necessary, the last people on earth I'd want running the security detail are the arm chair warriors that tie their ego and sense of masculinity into how big their gun is.

Yeah, exactly. And if that was a fear of his, then why come at all? If I didn't feel safe being somewhere unarmed and I didn't absolutely have to be there, I wouldn't go. Seems like common sense to me.

He is an arm chair warrior, I know that from the time I spent living with him. Absolutely obsessed with that image and with being seen as a warrior as well as a leader. And like most such Pagans, he's never come anywhere close to actual combat and yet thinks he really understands something.

I'm extremely pro-armament, am a USMC vet, blah blah blah.

and...

you're damm well dead-on correct with your assessment here. no reservations.

At bare minimum, he never needed to say anything, and no one woulda known. that'd be his business. Clearly, that ain't the case here. No need to elaborate, you did it perfectly.

He's still flouncing, too. We're all biased against guns and blind to the statistics., blah blah blah. He lived here for how many years? Yeah, you'd think he knows better.

I'm not against guns or people having guns, though there are some people I'd rather not have guns in my presence. Like someone whose whole ego is tied up in his delusion of being a warrior thinking he's here to protect us all. That's far more likely to get someone hurt than anything else. If indeed we did need protecting (and reasonably we don't) there are far better qualified people there to do it than him.

Wow, you get some winners, don't you? :)

The only time we've had firearms around during ritual has been during weapon blessings (typically just before hunting season). And of course they're unloaded, and certainly not concealed.

Is this Mr. "I am Apollo's thumbs"?

No. This is a guy I lived with for about ten months over three years ago before his need to control and lead everything helped make the situation explode and we left on very bad terms. A little while back, you may or may not remember, I made a post about someone that wanted to leave weapons on their altar where their two year old and an infant could both reach them and thought this was perfectly reasonable. This is the same guy.

Jesse isn't very big into philosophy. He's a wanna be warrior Pagan, the only thing that matters to him is who has the bigger gun. :-)
