I think there was a lot of bitterness left unfinished at the end of season three that has to be addressed. I think Velocity (as with Rush) showed that Pete had a blatant disrespect for Clark or his abilities and sees powers in general much more like a toy than a burden or responsibility. So far he can hide but not respect them and their dangers like Chloe and Clark do.

I'm not surprised he's trying to impress Chloe now that he's super or that he's being reckless. It seems very IN CHARACTER to me and I'm sure the original trio will be back on better footing by the end.

Velocity! Good citation, I'd forgotten about that. Totally. Pete totally has never understood the danger really - it never really has stuck with him.
