[Anyone passing by 752 Partridge on Sunday will see Jecht lying face down in the middle of the beach on his front lawn. His entire body is more or less covered in scars - both the ones he got from working in the factories in Soviet Mayfield, as well as the ones he earned in Spira defending Lord Braska on the Pilgrimage. He's definitely breathing

Why does this keep happening to people I somewhat care about?
... oh look there's another corpse for my dinner. It can join the Justin and Liz and Giriko corpses. He's not dead? Hahaha what are you talking about... ... - so what's this about him still breathing?
STUPID HUMAN EMOTIONS s-sob I hate this - I hate us - I hate what I feel for you
Combine them together and you get a near-crazy Saya tearing towards Jecht the second she recognizes him. Do remember what happened last time she lost someone she likoved sorta actually cared about.]
Jecht!

Really, if I hadn't found you, you would have died -
[She stops abruptly. Realization dawns upon her.]

[Looking all indignant.]

... ah, that's the answer! Hey Jecht - isn't it true that when somebody dies in Mayfield, any of the injuries they got in this town automatically disappears?
Reply
... is there something you haven't been telling Saya?

[His eyes flash with genuine anger for a moment at the very suggestion of it, but then he just grins like a shark and laughs.]
"There's plenty you don't know about me, kid."

You're right. There's a lot I don't know.
(There's a lot you don't know about Saya too.) [But she doesn't verbalize this. Out of all her Mayfield friend? relationship? ... things... Jecht was the last person she wanted finding out about her true self.]
All you ever told me was that you have a son and that you're apparently in the middle of a big battle in your home world.
If you'd like to... you can tell me some more about yourself. Your wounds are pretty deep and it'll take a while for them to stop bleeding.
[Evident by the pile of blood-soaked towels in the corner. She'll need to find a new batch soon. But he's out of critical danger, at least. The man healed fast, it seemed.]

"I'm from a city called Zanarkand. Had a wife and a kid there. I was the star of Zanarkand's top blitzball team. Life was pretty good for a while."
[Gonna do this bit by bit, I guess, and let Saya react to each part~]

You've mentioned blitzball before but I'm afraid I'm not familiar with it. Is it a sport?

How can people... breath?

Intense. Yeah. I can imagine.
And you're sure you're human?

"Don't worry about it. I'll get to that part."
[Grins.]
"So anyway... my wife died."
[There is a pregnant pause here, as Jecht glances past Saya and at nothing in particular in the corner of the room before continuing.]
"My blitz career kinda went south after that. I started drinkin' and gettin' into fights. And all the time, with that damn whiny-ass brat... So one day, I just left."
