Stupid dreams two-for-one!

1.  While visiting my grandmother, I discover that during the 1970s, my fiddle-playing uncle wrote and vanity-published a Saint fanfic novel in which the main character is Simon's son and at the end it is revealed that Norman Kent was a mermaid.  It was illustrated by amateurish coloured pencil sketches.

wow. wow. that's on par with 10!Doctor serenading me on a unicorn. haha. dreams are so weird.

he's not a mermaid, he's a cripple! that's not the same thing at ALL.
What I remember of the plot isn't much, but apparently Norman was a merman, and he came out of the sea b/c <3 Patricia, & when he "died" he somehow got back in the water & like getting his leg shot meant he couldn't use the people legs anymore but the mermaid magics kept him alive and he just had to live in the Thames forever. And so Simon and Pat had a kid, and I really don't remember at all what the kid DID, but there was this whole plot - some kind of coming-of-age thing where Templar Jr was in his late teens or something - and at the end, Pat was killed, but Norman came out of the water and saved her, and she got to live like Norman did, i.e. not dead but has to live in the Thames forever & be a mermaid; and Norman was very sorry about this but everyone agreed it was for the best, and I don't even know where Simon WAS at that point, because he didn't appear in the entire second half of the novel, perhaps he died or sommat I don't know. CAT THING CONTINUED B/C SOMEHOW TABBED OVER TO "POST COMMENT" WHEN I TRIED TO TURN CAPSLOCK OFF.

So I called Roger on his mobile and explained the situation. Advised evasive maneuvers involving tossing a bit of string out of his car window so the cat would pull over to play with it. It worked, but now the cats knew both of our cars, so he came and ditched his next to mine. (We were both driving late-model BMW sedans; his was white, mine was charcoal grey.)

And then I had to wake up :(
