Hunter is so adorable! My dog growing up, Tippie, was half Chihuahua and half terrier of some sort, and was the best dog ever ( ... )

Thanks so much for the compliments & advice. He really is the most wonderful, loving puppy. =)

I never thought of baby toys for him, but that's such a great idea. I'll definitely try going to Baby's R Us or Target over the weekend. To be honest, I didn't even think to look at cat or ferrett toys either- thanks for the suggestion!

Hunter seems to love Royal Canin as well- I probably won't change it, but just was looking to see if there is anything better out of curiosity. Only want the best for the little guy, lol. =)

I don't know so much puppy food, but Innova Evo is the best food hands down in my opinion. Other good brands are Merrick, Wellness, Solid Gold (same maker as Innova). Those are all non commerical foods though, so you would have to search their sites for a local vendor. I also feed partially raw, and if you want more info on that go to rawdogs on LJ ( ... )

Hehe, well, you could've still posted it! It is nice to have someone agree hehe.

BTW, Raptors are birds! Hehe couldn't resist! Into_focus and I were talking about my aunt having worked at the Raptor Trust in NJ, and she mentioned you never heard of a raptor being a bird before.

Oh, I did still post, I just usually try not to repeat what other people have said. Oh well.

And re: raptor--I don't know if it's a regional thing, or just a fluke that I've never come across it used in that context. I usually pride myself on having a pretty extensive vocabulary. Not this time, I guess. :)

I could, quite literally, talk on the subject of dog food for days, so instead of doing that, and instead of expecting you to take my word for it, I'll direct you to http://dogfoodproject.com and let you make your own decisions. They have an "Ingredients to Avoid" list, on which you'll find a couple of the top ingredients in Royal Canin, as well as information on how to pick out a good dog food, so you can find what works for you. There are quite a few good brands we could all name off, but the best thing to do is really to learn what ingredients to look for and decide for yourself. Royal Canin also tends to be on the expensive side (especially the Chihuahua formula), and I'm quite sure you could find something considerably cheaper that would also be better for your dog in the long run. The better brands tend not to be available at the large chain stores, so it may take some hunting around--manufacturer websites should all have store locators--but it should be worth it ( ... )

OMG my dogs LOVE the mini tennis balls! Except I found mini flavored tennis balls someplace...I forget where now, maybe petsmart. They used to have this thing called PNUTZ at Petsmart, but now they don't have the minis and the regular sized ones are like bigger than my hand!

I also found at walmart (don't judge!) that they have pure dehydrated chicken for like 2.50$ a package, which normally sells for like 10$ in specialty shops. Also, my dogs like these stupid I think part rawhide bones with some type of "meat" filling stuff. They are small, inexspensive, and my dogs will kill each other for them. Cough, now that I have strayed so far away from mini tennis balls I will shut up.

Oh, that's good to know. I just came across it by chance, Google search I think, although I don't even remember what exactly I searched. I was so glad to find a comprehensive sight, with basically everything I've been telling people all in one place. I used it to convince my brother to switch his dogs (who have horrible skin problems) off Science Diet just last week!

My chi-yorkie says hello to your chi-yorkie! :D Mine is also extra tiny with shortish legs. But, I think the yorkie in them makes them a wee bit sturdier than your average tiny chi. I had Nano on Royal Canin and the kibble size is nice but I find that Innova Evo is pretty good. Good luck finding tiny toys and clothes! There are lots of places in Japan that cater to small sizes if you're ever here. ;)

Aww, Hunter says hello to your chi-yorkie as well.. yours is adorable! =) From what I've heard, many owners seem to like Innova Evo- I'll have to check it out.

I'm not sure the next time I'll head to Japan, but thanks for the suggestion! ;) Actually, I bought Hunter several really cute outfits from an online Japanese dog store based in New York (prettyyoko.com). I was so impressed, they have the cutest clothing that actually FIT him. =)

WTF?
Is Nano part Yorkie?!? WOAH! I NEVER would have guessed it from looking at your photos. haha. He looks more purebred than MANY supposed "purebred" Chihuahuas that I have seen being sold for ridiculous amounts of money.
