I don't remember the exact specifics but I think it was based around the idea that a women can claim that she's a virgin spirtually but she's technically not a virgin.
The idea of getting your hymen reconstructed sounds painful and why would a women go through that much pain for it to be 'broken' again?
Yeah, I heard about that years ago. They touch upon it briefly in the article, but it's more about the surgical aspect.
The surgery only takes about an hour and seems to be an outpatient thing.
I guess I understand the religious reason in the case of the women being examined before their marriages. In that case, a torn hymen could mean their death.
But, an anniversary gift?
"Oh honey, ignore the fact that we've been married for seven years and have two children. I'm a virgin."
