I own PS3 copies of both Dragon Age games, including all the expansions that are currently available. I love them to pieces, so that improves my willingness to look at your other recommendations a lot. Of course, if there were PC versions that actually had "MORROWIND" style mods available . . . .
Your RPG suggestions all sound interesting. I think I'll hop over to eBay and see what I can find. THANKS!
Have you noticed anything - odd - about the Dragon Age games?
I've been thinking about it - and I think the next new release in that series will, if they resist the temptation to monkey around with the controls again, be something to write home about, for sure. Think about it - the ending of the DA2 game tells you two very important things - the seekers are looking for the heroes of BOTH the first 2 installments, because they have gone missing; and Leilianna has not only returned to the Chantry, she's leading the seekers.
If they do it right, the next chapter of the story could be HOT!
I'm curious to see where Bioware goes with the series (last I heard they wanted it to be a free-form world, taking cues from Skyrim) but at this point I'm not sure even they know what they're hinting at.
It would definitely be an ambitious project if they could somehow include both previous protagonists, though! There are so many variables they could include.
It's not your fault, and I don't want you to think I'm blaming you. Just FYI - when I went to eBay to see what was available - the only Baldur's Gate stuff I could find was PS2 games (unless I was willing to get something from England or Europe - which I think has the wrong region codes on it).
I'm looking at the Fallout series - there are a few listings I think I'll follow. One has Fallout 3 for auction - currently at >$8 - but 3 days left on the auction.
The Planescape: Torment also has several listings that I will watch, including one bundle that has a PC version of Baldur's Gate 2. Oops - spoke too soon. It was listed as "In Canada" but the listing is showing the price in BPS - British Pounds Sterling.
I know, I'm weird and have issues. I think it comes from being disabled and almost never leaving the house.
:( Oh, I'm sorry. If it helps some of the links I posted are to good old games.com, which feature direct downloads DRM-free. I know sometimes people prefer having physical copies, though.
I just bought the Planescape: Torment PC game (with the manual) off eBay. It should be here in a week or two. I'll keep watching for some decent deals on the others.
I might go ahead and try that games.com link to get some "free trials" - but if I like them I'll buy them. It is my interpretation of "THE SECRET" that since whatever we send out to the universe is what the universe sends back, if we constantly shop for "free things" or "lowest prices" the message the universe will hear is "not enough" - and it will make sure that we never have enough. On the other hand, if we're always happy to pay full price, the universe will always acknowledge us with having plenty for everything.
EDIT: Well, duh. Some day I may learn not to write comments when I'm too tired. I assumed that when you wrote about the links to gog.com that it was some sort of freeware site. I see now that it is not, and apologize for trying to suggest otherwise.
I got the Planescape: Torment game last night, and have played about 5 hours of it. It seems like a game quite similar to the arcade games I used to play years ago - side-scroller action RPG. It's alright, but after playing games like Dragon Age:Origins or Morrowind, the immersion factor is a bit down. I'm going to have to play it in small pieces, I think, until I get used to that style of game again. THANKS!
The gameplay is definitely not its strongest aspect, but a lot of attention was put into the story and characters, so I hope you enjoy it. :)
Oh, over here is someone's guide to helpful mods for Planescape: Torment. Mainly a few fix-it packs that allow certain quests to be finished properly, or tweak the display.
What are your favorite story-oriented mods for Oblivion? I have the unofficial Oblivion patch, and I've already played through Reclaiming Sancre Tor. Are there any other good stories out there - some puzzle stuff is ok, but I don't want anything that relies on it a lot.
