I don't watch that show but I found your interpretation right on the mark. Maybe one day it will be different. It wasn't too many years ago that they wouldn't be on at all. Things do change, albeit slowly.

Oh my God SERIOUSLY, while I was watching the show I just could not believe what was coming out of Nigel's voice. I just...I was shocked. Mary's response made sense to me, but I was just so flabbergasted by Nigel's reaction of, like, disbelief and almost disgust (but amused disgust) that two men would ever dance together. Like that's soooooo bizarre. And I was almost willing to give him a pass on the whole thing on the basis that he was just surprised and confused until he made the "I think you might enjoy it" comment, which was inexcusable ( ... )
