Oh my God SERIOUSLY, while I was watching the show I just could not believe what was coming out of Nigel's voice. I just...I was shocked. Mary's response made sense to me, but I was just so flabbergasted by Nigel's reaction of, like, disbelief and almost disgust (but amused disgust) that two men would ever dance together. Like that's soooooo bizarre. And I was almost willing to give him a pass on the whole thing on the basis that he was just surprised and confused until he made the "I think you might enjoy it" comment, which was inexcusable.

I've always gotten annoyed with their insistence that men dance in a "masculine" way. I understand it in the context of pairs dancing (and I guess it makes sense for the show as a whole since they'll be doing pairs dancing over the course of the competition, though switching up the masculine and feminine roles actually seems like something that could be interesting and very cool if done right), but if a guy is dancing well then who cares if he's doing moves that are more common from women?

But that comment about alienating the audience was hilariously out of touch with reality.
