Thinking ahead to next season

Nov 17, 2008 08:47

I'm starting to think about next rugby season. I am going to be refereeing. That means job one is to be match fit by the start of May. I'm thinking that if I keep running four to five times/week, do a bit of skiing and maybe do some 'staircase' workouts, maybe twice per week, I should be in good shape to start getting in shape around the middle ( Read more... )

You've really enjoyed the coaching, haven't you? It seems like it from the pictures you've posted. I hope you can keep doing it.

I have two problems with doing it. The major one is time. I just don't know what my work/travel schedule will be in the new job and I have to be able to commit to every Tues/Thurs evening. The other issue is that I really have imposter syndrome. Really I know ratshit about coaching and am totally faking it.

Thanks for adding me back. Anyone who posts a lot of pictures of kitties has to be on my friend list.

Also you like Jane Austen. I did my thesis at uni on her and I actually enjoyed doing it.

Also you don't like Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings, which is possibly even more important. Did you put those non interests in yourself, by the way, or is there a way of doing it on LJ that I haven't discovered yet?

Finally, irrelevantly, you went to college in Bishop's Stortford which is where my mum lives.

Hi!

I created the "non-interests" thing in the general text area of the profile.

Being picky, I went to school rather than college in Bishop's Stortford. Bishop's Stortford College may, like Eton or Winchester, style itself a college, but it's actually a public school.

Thank you, I think I'll do that.

Who are you being 'picky' with? Me or the college - sorry, public school? I know nothing about Bishop's Stortford, I've been there once, it's referred to as a college on the userinfo, so if you want to be picky perhaps you should email LiveJournal about that or, even better, start a campaign to get the 'college' part changed to 'school.'

There isn't much point in being picky with me about it, partly because I didn't know and partly because it wasn't me that bestowed the title of 'college' on it.

It was a throwaway remark to a new 'friend.' I don't appreciate being patronised and/or being 'put in my place' over something so ridiculous. It isn't the best way to write to someone who's just friended you because they thought you were interesting and liked the look of your page.

I didn't mean picky in a negative way and I certainly wasn't trying to 'put you in your place'. I was just clarifying, FWIW, that my education in Bishop's Stortford was secondary rather than post-secondary which is how I interpreted "went to college in". Sorry if it came off as patronising, it wasn't intended to.
