First reffing gig of the season; two 30 minute games and a 40 minute game. I'm tired but don't seem to have injured anything. The first few minutes were tough but I adjusted quite quickly. I am able to confirm that I am still not as fast as the average 17 year old wing threequarter.

I fetched my refereeing gear up from the storage unit today. I have a gig at St. Mike's on Tuesday; 2x30 minute games and a 40 minute game spread between 0900 and 1400. I have some fitness concerns as I have been struggling a bit with a respiratory virus for about a month which has definitely impacted my run up to the season plans and, yeah well ( Read more... )

Yesterday and today I'm officiating at Robert Borden BTI in Scarborough as the city still hasn't opened the fields at Sunnybrook. Yesterday was the senior boys semi finals. Yesterday lunchtime was the last opportunity to see all the members of the COC Ensemble Studio before the season ends and some of them move on. It's always interesting to see the Ensemble members as they are growing as singers so fast and, invariably, one hears a new and interesting side of someone that one hadn't heard before. So much for a lighter week. I got the "please, please" email last night. So, I'm doing West division boys semifinals, senior and junior, this afternoon. Oakwood Snrs vs. North Toronto at 2pm and Oakwood Jnrs vs Forest Hill at 4pm.

I reffed for the first time in almost three weeks yesterday and I was rusty. I had Crusaders III vs Scottish III. It wasn't a terribly good game and I was just OK. I'm refereeing again Saturday. It's getting towards the end of the season. The women's season is pretty much done and the juniors and men have only a couple more weekends to go before playoffs so I'll be lucky to get more than another three games in this year plus maybe some A/R slots during the playoffs. I've got Brampton 3 @ Beach 3 on Sunday (Games shifted from Saturday because Wales are playing Canada at York on Saturday). This is very good because Gage Field is a 10 minute bike ride and no car is required.

Yesterday I headed out to Georgetown to referee North Halton II vs Ajax II. This was my first game of the year and my first since the adoption of the ELVs into Law. (I never got to ref a game under the Global ELVs). It was a new ground for me too as I never played in Georgetown ( Read more... )
