Jin tapped his feet and fished another box of cigarettes from his jeans pocket. He watched the trembling guy in front of him as he took a long drag.

The man with shaky hands started pouring two glasses of blue and red colour liquids alternately into one small glass contained with a thick peach coloured drink.

SLAM. A glass born cracks of a few on the bottom edge. “Excuse me for my strong hold on this feeble material.” Jin said with deliberate patience in his voice.

Jin stood within inches in front of the other man. “Put down my glasses and your work is done.”

The man looked at him quietly before nodding apprehensively and made a run for the door. Jin sighed and motioned a staff to call over Kato Shigeaki, one of the waiters.

Shige strode towards Jin with his head bowed low. “You asked for me, Akanishi-san?”

Jin clicked his tongue. “Shige. I asked for a perfect cocktail maker, not a crippled dumbass who knows shit about mixing. Did you know what the fuck he’s been mixing for as long I was standing here watching? He fucking mixed cherry wine with Sapphire - it was fine, but adding them both into a glass of Peach Milk. Tell me, is that drinkable?”

Shige gulped and shook his head slowly. “I-I’m so sorry, Akanishi-san. He was the best I could find the other night and you said ten thirty and -“

“Excuses.” Jin shut the other off and took another cigarette out from the box. “Three nights, Shige. For three nights, I couldn’t serve cocktails to my customers. This is a club. I own this club. What would people think of me when they heard about my club having no cocktails? Can you imagine that? No cocktails in a club?”

Shige nodded and then shook his head again. “I’m sorry, Akanishi-san.”

Jin pushed his cigarette into the ashtray. “Get back to your station.” He thought he heard a huge breath of relief when Shige walked away clumsily back into the counter.

-

Kame hid his head under his arms on the coffee table.

“What did you two fight about this time?” Uchi Hiroki asked as he placed a glass of warm water and painkillers onto the table.

Kame shook his head. “It’s not a fight. I don’t know what’s his problem, Uchi. He keeps saying that he needed a time off from things then I tried to ask him what was it but he wouldn’t tell me and instead, he went drinking and got himself drunk and he couldn’t even walk.”

Uchi raised his eyebrows. “Ryo was quite a drinker, he must have drank too much.”

“Uchi, I’m worried. What if he was trying to break up with me?” Kame held tight onto Uchi’s arm.

Uchi tensed. This isn’t what he expected. “What are you talking about, Kame-chan?” Uchi tried to laugh it off but Kame’s face kept sour. “You think too much.”

Kame scooted closer to his best friend. “It’s true. I found out that he’s meeting someone else behind my back.”

Uchi’s laugh broke. The smile on his face faltered. He took the pot of flowers from the table and stood up before walking to the kitchen. “Why would he do that?”

Kame frowned at the loss of warmth from his friend. This seemed like a déjà vu. “Aren't you going to ask me who it was?”

The pot fell from Uchi’s hand and onto the sink with a loud clank. The flowers were still wrapped around Uchi’s fingers on the other hand.

“Tatsuya.”

There was a moment of silence until the water from the tap turned on and Uchi spoke through the sound of the water running along the roots of the white daffodils. “Tatsuya? Who is that?”

Kame stared at his best friend’s back. “I don’t know.”

Uchi turned to face him back with a smile. “You’re just thinking too much again. Maybe they are only colleagues.”

“But I have proof.” Kame countered. “This Tatsuya person sent him a text saying ‘Baby, I miss you. Can you come over?’”

Again, Uchi’s smile dropped to an equally rueful one with Kame. “He couldn’t…”

Kame nodded sadly. “I know.”

“Did you tell him?”

“Of course not. I don’t want to see his reaction. Either way, I don’t want to. I won’t be able to handle it, Uchi. If he tells me that he doesn’t love me anymore, I don’t know what I will do.” Tears started pooling in Kame’s eyes and one drop rolled down to his cheek. Kame immediately wiped it with his sleeve. “Stupid tears.”

Uchi saw how doleful his friend looked and he quickly wrapped an arm around the other’s smaller body. “There, there. It’s fine. He’ll come to his senses. He loves you, I’m sure he does.”

“Then why is he doing this?” Kame said softly into Uchi’s embrace. Uchi felt his shirt dampened, he felt a tug in his heart at both the sight of his grieving best friend and also because of his indiscretion which he thought he should have long stopped, for the sake of his best friend.

“I don’t know, Kame.” He tightened the embrace. “I don’t know.”

-

Kame turned on the lights in the apartment. He sighed when he looked around and Ryo is not home. He flipped his phone open and scrolled the contacts to ‘Ryo’. Staring at it for more than three seconds is enough to make him give up the urge to call his boyfriend.

If Ryo isn’t telling him anything, then he should only just stop asking and expect the worse case scenarios there could be possible.

Tonight he thought he would just make a little effort on his untouched assignment that was due in another week.

-

“Can I see you now?”

Ryo bit his lip. He had been trying to avoid the other’s call for some time and he knew sooner or later the latter would eventually find him.

Brushing his hair to the back, he took another sip of his drink. “Yeah okay. Where are you?”

“Here.” A young man in his twenties - a year younger than Ryo at least - took a seat next to him, completely surprising Ryo.

The man looked indifferently back at his astounded affair. “What?”

“What are you doing here?” Ryo blinked.

The stranger smiled shyly and took Ryo’s hand to his face, kissing lightly on the long fingers he had always come to adore. Those fingers could take him to paradise anytime he wanted.

“Why do you look so surprised?”

Ryo shook his head and turned back to his drink. “Did he look for you?”

The younger of the two dropped the hand he was holding and ordered himself a Daiquiri. Ryo saw how he flirted with the bartender when passed the drink.

“Fucking flirt.” Ryo muttered.

“Better than a playboy.” The other man only sipped his drink daintily.

That ticked Ryo off. “I thought we came to an agreement about this affair. I told you, I have Kame already and it’s only natural that I have to spend extra time with him.”

The man pushed his drink away. “You want to know if he came looking for me? Well fuck yes he did and you know why? Because he told me that he found out about your affair with another person!”

Ryo stared incredulously at the other man. “You don’t mean he found out about us…?”

He smirked sarcastically. “’Us’? What about us? You told me you only had Kame. The affair Kame found out about was between you and Ueda Tatsuya!”

Ryo couldn’t speak. Fuck everything.

“Cat got your tongue, Ryo-chan?” He pulled Ryo closer to face him. That crestfallen face on Ryo broke his heart but he tried not to let his soft side get the best of him, not yet.

“You didn’t think I, your another affair, Uchi Hiroki would have found out? Well sorry, it’s too bad since I will know practically everything since Kame who thinks of me as his best friend would spill everything to me!”

Ryo gripped Uchi’s arm tightly. “Uchi, please, listen to me. I can explain.”

Uchi looked at Ryo doubtfully. “Let’s… let’s stop this.” He pulled his hand back from Ryo’s grip and turned on his heels.

Ryo pulled his hand back angrily. “Listen to me, please. It’s not what you think. I can’t help it, okay? I love all three of you too much to let go. Please understand. I didn’t want to do this.” He pulled Uchi into a rough kiss and more than glad when the younger boy didn’t fight back instead deepening the kiss even more.

Uchi entangled his fingers into Ryo’s initially messed up black hair. Ryo’s hair was so smooth, Uchi didn’t mind his fingers tangling with the locks, again and again.

When they broke apart, Uchi stroke Ryo’s hair lovingly. He traced his finger over Ryo’s pout. How could he ever be able to be mad for so long with a face like that?

Uchi took another gulp of his drink and paid the bartender. He looked at Ryo and took the other’s arms wrapped to his own. “Let’s go back to my place.”

Ryo’s face remained blank but nodded obediently when Uchi took his hand, together they walked out of the bar.

Jin stood there watching the scene he found somehow interesting yet disturbing. He didn’t know his best friend was capable to keep three relationships going at a time. Nishikido Ryo was much more than he gave credit for.

-

“That’s all for today’s class. Remember to hand in your assignments next week and no extensions, especially not for you, Tanaka-san.” The lecturer pushed his glasses up his nose and strode out of the lecture hall.

Kame giggled together with a few students at the boy sitting in the middle of the class with a melodramatic expression on his face, clearly he wanted the said extension in the first place.

Tanaka looked back weirdly at his laughing onlookers from behind him. His eyes set on the smiling blissfully character with beautiful eyes almost shrinking in becoming a thin line. That boy was undeniably adorable.

‘How come I haven’t noticed this boy before? It’s almost the second term of university!’ Tanaka Koki thought as he watched the boy filing out of the room.

-

“Hi there.” Kame waved to the day-dreaming boy currently refilling ice cubes into a steel box.

Shige broke out of his trance and attended to the customer. “Uh, sorry. Yes?”

Kame grinned cutely at the bartender. “Can I have a Fizzy Apple cocktail, please?”

Shige nodded and started making the drink while Kame sat down and waited patiently like a good boy. From his back, came an approaching individual with an amused smirk on his face.

“Pleasure to find you here again.” Jin said and took the drink from Shige’s hand before handing it to Kame.

“I’m not quite sure I caught your name.”

Kame tasted his drink. This Shige person did well but Kame thought he could do better. “Kamenashi Kazuya. You can call me Kame.”

“Akanishi Jin.” Jin extended a hand and Kame took it with the other hand still holding the cup and sucking on the straw.

“Where is Ryo-chan?” Jin looked around.

Kame put down his glass and cleared his throat. “He’s not here with me tonight.”

Jin nodded and hopped onto a seat next to Kame. “That’s too bad. I wanted to talk to him again since I haven’t the chance to do so last night when I saw him sitting here drinking.”

Kame frowned. “Ryo was here last night?”

“Yeah, with a friend I supposed.”

“A friend?” Kame pondered to himself. Ryo told him he was going to stay at his workplace to finish up reading some proposals but Jin saw him in this bar last night. Was Ryo lying to him?

Kame shook his head at that thought. Maybe Ryo was just too tired of reading and he needed to relax himself so he came here. But with a friend… His colleague?

“Did you happen to know the name of his friend?” Kame asked eagerly.

“No, but I overheard them saying…” Jin stopped. Should he tell Kame about what he heard? Maybe Kame knew about the affair and just decided to play along. He shouldn’t interfere.

“Saying?” Kame tilted his head to meet Jin’s gaze.

“I forgot.” Hell yeah he was one hell of a bad liar.

Kame narrowed his eyes but decided to drop the subject. Thinking and mostly doubting about his boyfriend is one tiring matter.

“What kind of a shitass cocktail is this?”

Both Kame and Jin turned their view towards a fat man slamming the glass on the table. The man had a weird moustache and his ass couldn’t fit even two of the stools.

“You, boy. Do you even know how to make a cocktail?” The fat man pulled Shige by the collar.

Shige shook his head nervously and mumbled timidly his apologies.

“This is not what I asked for. What kind of motherfucking shit did you just made me?” The man growled next to Shige’s ear.

“I- I just made what you ordered, s-sir.” Shige trembled under the man’s grubby fingers.

“No!” The man roared angrily. “This is not how you make a Golden Cadillac!”

Kame who got worried, turned to look at Jin but the latter only kept an amused expression and watched quietly.

“Hey, aren’t you going to do anything about that?” Kame whispered to him.

“What do you want me to do? Push that fat ass away? I can’t do that. The customer has every right to snap at my people for their mistakes.” Jin shrugged.

Kame nodded and watched helplessly poor Shige’s face sprayed with thick spits each time the fat man said something.

“If that guy couldn’t make cocktails, why did you hire him?” Kame wondered aloud.

Jin picked up the emptied glasses from the counter and placed them onto the sink. “I hired him as a waiter here, not as a cocktail maker. My ex cocktail maker ran off somewhere and now I’m in need of one.” He said as he started washing his hands from the sink.

Kame turned around and watched Jin from behind the counter, arranging another few glasses up on the shelves. He supported his face on his hand and Jin suppressed an urge to tell the guy off for being cute.

“I can make cocktails.”

Jin turned around to face Kame. He raised an eyebrow at the other’s half-asleep face.

“You?”

Kame nodded. “I know how to make most cocktails and I have quite some confidence in them.”

“With a face like that?” Jin snickered.

“What’s wrong with my face?” Kame touched his face.

Jin shook his head, trying to control a chuckle from coming out of his mouth. “No, no, it’s just that I find you too young to know about making cocktails and such. I’d even consider you a minor if I had really given a fuck the first time you came in here.”

“How old are you anyway?” Jin asked again.

“Twenty five.” Kame muttered.

Jin paused for a moment. “You’re kidding.”

Kame stared at the other for awhile holding a serious expression and when he thought Jin was about to buy it, he quickly said “Twenty one.”

“Come on.”

“No, seriously. Twenty-one. You don’t look fitting as a club owner either. How old are you?” Kame laughed inwardly, having mixed feelings about how old he actually looked. He’d actually prefer to look older.

“I’m only five years older than you.” Jin smiled.

“Amazing. You owned a club at twenty six?” The younger boy asked.

“I owned a club at eighteen.” Jin corrected the other. Before the other could ask further, Jin decided to fill the boy with everything he wants to know.

“I came back to Japan last year. Before that, I was in Los Angeles and I opened five clubs in five different places: three in L.A. and two in New York. The states was too much shit for me so I decided to come back to my hometown. I spend some time holidaying alone until two months ago, I opened this club.”

Jin poured two glasses of water dunked with a piece of lemon and passed one to Kame, who was listening with eyes full of interest.

“As soon as I graduated from high school, my mother gave me money and taught me things I needed to know about clubs. She sent me to the states, letting me do whatever I wanted but I soon got tired and here I am. I haven’t closed down my clubs over there, if you wonder.”

Kame drank his water and nodded, fascinated.

“And my parents told me that people who don’t continue their studies after high school won’t be successful. I gotta show you to them someday.” Kame muttered.

Jin laughed. “It depends, Kame-chan.”

“Wanna show me your skills already?” Jin asked.

Kame looked up and Jin gestured with his hand telling the other to come over behind the counter. Kame who was initially sleepy was now all exuberant. He couldn’t wait to show the older boy his creations.

“Mix me a Piña Colada. We’ll go easy on you first.”

Kame scoffed. As if he would need that. Expertly, he found himself a carton of coconut milk and drained a quarter into a glass. He opted for a pineapple fruit and decided he’d cut it instead of using the tray of cut pineapple pieces. Kame always liked everything fresh but people who tried to get fresh with him.

He cut the pineapple into reasonable slices, the juices all over his finger. He licked his lips approvingly as he tasted the juice unbeknownst to him that gesture made Jin felt a rush in his blood.

Jin tried to ignore the weird feeling opening up and distracted himself as he passed a bottle of rum to Kame who took it gratefully.

He then put the few slices into a blender and pressed the buttons to start, his eyes never leaving the machine.

He poured the rum into a glass until he thought enough and slowly added the crushed pineapples into the glass of rum.

He finished his piece without forgetting to put a piece of pineapple decorating the side of the glass.

“Bon appétit.” Kame pushed the drink towards the older man who only smirked and took the drink willingly in the process brushing Kame’s hand deliberately.

Jin took a sip and nodded. “This is really good. Want a taste?”

Kame made a face and shook his head. “No, I hate that stuff.”

Jin stared at the younger boy as if the latter was crazy. “But you can make it so good. Is it because of the rum?”

Kame slipped a strand of his hair to the back of his ear. “No, I’m a great drinker, mind you. Piña Colada isn’t exactly my type of drink. There’s something about coconut milk that gross me out.”

Jin nodded apprehensively. “You’re hired.”

“You kidding me?”

“I need a cocktail maker anyway and if you don’t mind -“

“When can I start?” Kame interrupted the other with a joyful expression. He’d always wondered what it would be like to be a bartender - in this case, a cocktail maker - but whatever, he’ll still be behind the counter and listen to people’s miseries. Well, most people are usually miserable when they sat on the stool seats and order themselves power drinks.

“What would your boyfriend say? Will Ryo-chan be okay with it?” Jin asked, doubtful.

Kame clicked his tongue impatiently. “Who cares what he says? He never really told me anything so why should I?” Kame took the untouched pineapple piece from Jin’s glass of cocktail he made. His expression turned forlorn when he chewed on the fruit.

“I’m not his toy.”
