Perhaps it came from the way he'd grown up quickly due to all the abrupt changes he had had in his short life, or perhaps it came from growing up helping clear tables at Omoro, the restaurant his dad owned

There's a girl! She's a touch older than Riku, but not by much, and is blissfully unaware of his presence. She's gathering daisies, only a few, and soon, she'll be sitting in the grass.

She's playing with the daisies.

"He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not..."

He glances up, watching her. She's pretty and blonde, like a younger version of Mao, only sweeter-looking and nowhere as snooty (though Mao's snootiness was really a cover for how gentle and kind her heart was). He smiles to her, shyly and says, "...hi there."

"Hi!" She waves a little, and points at the bouquet she's preparing. "Do you want to pick flowers with me?"

Most boys at Riku's age would call flower-picking "too girly", but he's not like most boys. "Sure thing," he says, getting up. "I'm Riku."
