Dude, I loved Midnight in Paris. Of course, it made me want to pack up and move there like, immediately, but I thought it was very well done. And Marion Cotillard was wonderful.
Yay for job! If you see a spare one, please throw it my way? Thnx. :*
RIGHT? Just like how Vicky Cristina Barcelona made me want to pack up and movie to Spain ASAP. Such beautiful scenery. And Marion was so perfect and looked so gorgeous.
I don't think I'll ever like Rachel McAdams and she was easily the weakest link of the cast, in my opinion, but she did her job in the sense that I didn't like Inez and I was on Gil's side. I do like her, but I thought her character was just absurd--I didn't believe for a second that he'd ever be ENGAGED to her, FFS. She was way too awful. And YOU'VE NEVER SEEN MICHAEL SHEEN IN ANYTHING?! Holy fuckballs, he is AWESOME. You must immediately go Netflix: Frost/Nixon, The Queen, Music Within [trust me], The Damned United and Wilde. And maybe the Underworld movies, though I haven't seen those. I loooove him. (And I wanted more of the Fitzgeralds too because I adore Hiddles SFM now.)
I wasn't sure about Tree of Life when I first saw it, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. It does seem to be fact that Malick basically creates the story of the film after filming everything; he just gets endless, ENDLESS shots and then pieces it all together, but that's...valid, I guess. I would think it'd be fucking maddening to work for
( ... )
YES, EXACTLY. And how he talked about having panic attacks being engaged to her. Inez was beautiful, but she had no redeeming qualities, which I disliked. It was a really thankless role, IMO. And hahaa, after I posted it, I went to his IMDb and realized that I actually HAVE seen some of his films and just didn't remember them well/couldn't remember him in them. I need to rewatch them for him obviously.
I would think it'd be fucking maddening to work for him, but he does get good performances out of people lollllllllll ikr? I remember Javier Bardem (I think) talking about how he basically just got a character overview and then Malick would turn up with the lines on the day of shooting and then rewrite them during the process and everything. I'd love to work with him, but it would just be so frustrating! And yes, omg I definitely need to see it several more times. It was so great.
