Racing Games - U Con

I had a cool idea for a tournament at the next U Con: a racing games tournament.

My first thought was a trio of related games: Top Race, Daytona 500, and Detroit-Cleveland Grand Prix. Play one game (3 races) of each, take each player's total ending cash divided by the cash of all players at the end of the game for a rating score, and add the

We play games like crazy, but we haven't picked up many racing games I can think of. I think the only one we have is Odin's Ravens, which is a two player raven race.:) Backgammon's a race, pachissi and that other Indian one that's more complicated ... not that those are the kind of games you have in mind, I just like talking games.:)

I didn't know Odin's Ravens was a race game...that's a Reiner Kniza game, isn't it? I have heard good things about it; my husband and I don't play a lot of two-player games, since we're both pretty competitive, and it can be a problem. (Sorry, J, it's true...think about the times we have played Awful Green Things from Outer Space.)

As a two player game, it's not practical for this purpose unless I have multiple copies available, even discounting the fact that it's not and auto/vehicle race.

Not Kniza; I had to go look, it's by Thorsten Gimmler, whom I've not heard of before. Kniza does real strategy type stuff usually, I think, puzzly, though maybe I'm thinking of the wrong guy; I can never keep straight who designed what, except when I'm actually shopping for a new game, after that, it just flies out of my head

Carabande? Sadly I don't own it, but I'm quite fond of it and know a few folks who do own it.

Also, my friend Dennis has a slot car track, and enjoys bring it out... That might be a fun final event.

Dennis T., I presume? Yeah, I remember driving the slot cars at the grange hall for some odd event like 10 years ago.
