My suggestion is X-box, I kinda grew up on games due to my brothers total obsession with it - but after playing X-box, nothing compares. Good game selection - though not as varied as playstation (x-box is still the 'new guy' so many companies have yet to break their contracts with Sony and make games for the microsoft platform) - best graphics hands down - plus the online play is kick ass (they use microphones and not keyboards - trash talking perverts abound lol) - it has a built in hard drive to which you can download music onto to listen to while playing certain games - the hardware is built to last longer than playstation (its also like 10lbs heavier). Ok - I think I made my point /ends x-box commercial. LOL.

Unless you're going for a specciffic game that is only on one system I'd say ps2, I haven't tried the newer ones but will be buying a gamecube just to play the new final fantasy soon, PS2 is the safest way to go.

A PS2 is the only logical way to go. An X-box is decent, but will probably be useless by next year.
Just MHO.

I bought a PS2 when it came out. Mainly because I had a regular PlayStation and the new one played all of the old games. Nowadays, you can buy an attachment for your PS2 that allows you to play your games online.

I'd recommend the PS2 even though I don't play mine all that often.
