This morning started with pushing Kyle's car out of the snow. He was scheduled for 6am and was supposed to call me when he got to work. He left the apartment at 5:40. Soon after he left, I started hearing sirens and freaking out. Around 6, he called me. Said he was in the parking lot. Relief flooded through me. Until he clarified that he was in ( Read more... )

you should check into whether the place you work at has a place in the relocating area, that way you can try to transfer too. if the commute is not too bad, you can start working out there before you actually make the move. otherwise, you'll probably end up commuting to your current job until you have a new one. (which may or may not be that bad, idk, i used to live in a big city and commute to the suburbs for my job. and it sucked. but also, living in the suburbs commuting into the big city also sucked. i find it nicer working close to where i live.)
i've relocated thrice. twice out of states and once from philly to the philly countryside. each time i had a job lined up first, which is good, that way you know what you have $-wise to work with when figuring out housing costs.
good luck!

We want to move to the Appleton area- about 1.5 hours north. My bank is only Milwaukee area, so nowhere to transfer to. And the commute would be impossible. Which stinks, because I like my job. But I have very good bank skills, so I think I'll shoot for that. Worried about managing interviews, I think I'll just pray I'll be able to fit them in during vacations this summer. Kyle can transfer, so that's awesome. We're not too worried about finances, I can't make too much less than I already am! :)

Heya
Sad to hear you won't be in the milwaukee area anymore :( I suppose whatever's for the best though, right?
I'd start putting your resume out there and look around for what's available. Finding a job can be rough with the way things are (around here it's tough anyway); it can't hurt to start looking as early as possible.
I'd research a bunch of places to live online so that when the time comes you have a list of your favorites to call and you know what you'll be getting yourself into if they have an open apartment.
When you planning on going?

We're just planning on moving up to Appleton, that's only like 1.5 hours away. Closer to the move, I'll start applying to all the area banks online, most have that option. I'm not sure when we're going, our lease is up in October, but I think we might go sooner. I'm just sick of it down here. Too expensive, too stressful.
